What's with the Raven (?) music on the background?!

By the way, why isn't Disney promotiong the Enhanced HT track on this release? Sometimes I wonder if it is really going to have one.

Bad news, Joe. No Enhanced HT track. I suspect it was just a typo working from Aladdin's press release.

Serious, Luke?! Have you already checked the DVD?
Well, that's really bad news. It was one of the things I was looking forward the most on the DVD (although I must admit the current 5.1 track is pretty good already). Well, that makes it a region 4 for me, since there is no difference between the two editions.
Thanks for the info! :)

The maze game got on my nerves. I just decided to play it for some mild fun and the game WOULDN'T FREAKING END! It went on for 30 levels and after that I just gave up because I had been playing for an hour. I bet that game NEVER ends until you actually die...

And why must Disney drag Raven into EVERYTHING? They hit an all-time low by having her destroy Julie Andrews's moment of glory in Princess Diaries II (the woman hasn't sung on film for decades and then it's ruined by the omnipresence of Raven...::shudder:: ). Doesn't Disney disown you when either your boobs show too much or you have too much stubble? How long are they gonna let Raven-ahem-develop before abandoning her?

Not really! I've been waiting for this review since Monday morning, so I've already counted down a lot, hehehe! At least I'm going to sleep happier now. :D

Well, it was worth the wait! Thanks for providing us such a great and lengthy review. And I'm happy that the DVD was everything I was hoping it would be... of course, it is no "Aladdin", but it is a great DVD on its own. I'd compare it to the "Tarzan" DVD, which 'suffers' from the same navigational problems - but I admit I'm not really bothered by that.

I'm really looking forward to watching the deleted scenes since I've read about them for ages and I've always hoped they would show up on a DVD some time or another. I only wish they'd have include more deleted songs, specially the ones composed by Stephen Schwartz before being replaced by David Zyppel.

I'm only worried about the quality of the picture. After the spetacular "Aladdin" DVD transfer, I had high hopes for "Mulan". Unfortunately, it seems Buena Vista releases are really a mixed bag when it comes to picture quality. I still want to check it out by myself, but let's only hope "Mary Poppins" won't suffer from EE with its countless audio tracks.

By the way, it seems the international releases are getting extra material under the "Music and More" category. As far as I've read, they include:
-Mandarin version of "Reflection" with Coco Lee
-Spanish version of "True to Your Heart" with Christian
-Cantonese version of "I'll Make a Man Out Of You" with Jackie Chan
-Sing along songs for "Honor to Us All" and "I'll Make a Man Out of You"

I don't know if non-region 1 releases are getting the Raven music video (I'll be glad if the don't, hehe).

Once more, thanks for the review, Luke! I'm looking forward to checking the DVD out by myself, specially regarding the picture quality issues.

Just one question, Luke: is the Florida studio mentioned/shown anywhere on the DVD?

It's mentioned in the commentary, and in the very short "Mulan's Fun Facts" montage, which offers mostly production footage but runs only a couple of minutes.

Did other regions get Raven? We got Raven!!!

Thanks again Luke for another great review...

I wonder why the slip cover has been done as it has been... I always like it when it opens like a book.... Oh well...

In regard to Raven.... Come on guys, give her a break... Is she really any worse to have on the DVD than the "hit pop group" - No Secrets on the Sleeping Beauty DVD ??? I actually think Raven's version of "True to your heart" is quite good and I look forward to seeing the music video. She may no longer be the cutie she was on the Cosby show, but if she didn't have any talent or appeal at all, Disney wouldn't keep paying her. It's not like there aren't thousands of other potential starlets in California that couldn't take her place...
