hey yall. im pretty new to this forum just because theres so much to keep up with but i saw this topic and figured i might as well put some stuff down. i apologize for the length but in case anyones interested, here goes.
im fourteen and a freshman at school and couldnt even begin to tell you when i saw my first disney movie or the first time i went to disneyworld was. i have a huge family, and my parents both got remarried within few years after they split when i was two. i have eight siblings with my moms family and both families enjoy disney very much. ever since i can remember, whether my parents were together or not, i have gone to disney world and watched disney movies since i was born. i think that on average we might have gone every year, give or take a couple. my stepdad used to sing with the voices of liberty and my mom has done many things with disney, singing and hosting (specifically the christmas show) wise over the years. we are a very musical family, which could be one reason why we took to disney so much.
my favorite disneys growing up were sleeping beauty, cinderella, and the ever great little mermaid. i remember times when i used to spread the furniture out and dance to fantasia especially. i had the dolls as well as soundtracks and would listen to them before going to sleep- the works. i would always get so excited in going to disney world and try and do everything i could possibly do. ive collected things and my odd passion for disney never seems to go away. i have a friend who feels the same and its hilarious just to talk to her about disney alone. my best friends, both of which are guys, like it but dont seem to care nearly as intently as us, or another friend who is a girl.
i love the fact that the disney name still stands so strong and how those happy fairy tales just make you smile when you watch them each time. talking with the tour guides at disneyworld rocks because they give you all the inside scoop + are so wise in everything! you can tell that they truly love their job. that is only a little of my disney experiences but they are great. i know that my dream in life is to work with disney somehow. whether that be as a performer on the cruise line (which would be great especially for the traveling) or at the wdw resort, in the public relations department of wdw, or in any type of business aspect would be awesome. ive been wanting to do that summer program when the time comes because i think itll be a blast. alongside that, being an intern for probably any disney area would be equally amazing. i dont really know what would be the best for me, especially if i try narrowing down the business choices, but i just continue to pray that God can show me when the time is right. i love kids and would love to work with them somehow. i feel that many areas in disney would allow me to do so. with my love of disney as well i feel that it would be the perfect choice but who knows what He has in store for me. the movies and memorabelia are fine for now.
im sure all of that is quite some time away but it never hurts to dream...

Hi topangatango!
Welcome to the forum. I used to dance to Fantasia too! Although i'd prefer it if people didn't remember it! My mum still teases me about it! Although i agree the tutu probably was a step too far

HUH ?
Whats wrong with dancing with the song. Every time I would watch the Origional 1956 King and I when my Cousin Kathryn was over. When they would do the Shall We Dance # I would stand up and ask her for this dance. And we would dance around the room the same way they do it on the movie. We also do the same thing on Swiss Family Robinson, Dorothy McGuire is playing the song on the Organ, and all the boys are competing on who is goign to dance with Janet Munro.

Newbie
Hi! I'm new here. I'm a big fan of Disney, my bro's huge enthusiasm for Disney rubbed off on me. i also got even more into Disney since I worked there on the college program for a wonderful eight months.
My ultimate favorite Disney movie is Aladdin, prolly cause it's the first Disney movie I've ever seen in theaters and I fell in love with the Aladdin chracter and Abu. I remember wanting to get a pet monkey just so I could name him Abu and teach him how to talk. My other faves are Lilo and Stitch, The Little Mermaid, and Alice in Wonderland. Alice in Wonderland is a little choppy storywise, and the characters don't have much heart, but I think it's hilarious.
My favorite Disney princess is Jasmine. Part of it is because she has awesome long black hair. Another is also cause she kicks butt but is ladylike at the same time. She is very independent and knows how to handle things in difficult situations.
And if you hadn't guessed, my favorite hero is Aladdin. He's strong, agile, courageous, and of course handsome.
And then there's Stitch. If I could have a pet like Stitch, I would be so ecstatic. A little scared that he may actually turn all alien monster on me, but he's so cute!
Some of you may have run into me if you went to Walt Disney World between January and August 2004. I worked as an Attractions Hostess in Fantasyland and Toontown in Magic Kingdom. I would either have had the Mariel from Rutgers nametag or Brenda from Lebanon, PA nametag. I operated the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, The Mad Tea Party, Snow White's Scary Adventures and the Barnstormer. I was also at the other Fantasyland rides as a hostess. Since I worked in Fantasyland, I also got to have parade shifts and fireworks shifts (I'd be the one telling you to sit down during parade, or staying behind the rope during the fireworks). These were my favorite shifts because you could really have some one on one time with guests.
Working at WDW was an exhilarating experience that I would never trade for anything. It's so cool that I can say that I personally know almost every Disney character like "The Big Cheese" - Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Chip and Dale, Pooh Bear, Tinkerbelle, and of course the lovely Princess Cinderella. Tinkerbelle is a little hard to understand if Peter Pan isn't there, since she speaks pixie.
After working at WDW, I gained a ton more patience. I also am motivated to learn other languages since every other person would come up to me and talk to me in Spanish. My fellow castmembers claim it's because I look very Spanish. Although I'm 1/3 Spanish, I unfortunately can't speak the language as well as the guests, so I always felt bad when they come up and say, "Hablas espanol?" and I'd go...No, Lo siento. As weird as it is, people would also come up to me speaking French, Italian, and Japanese ...when I am none of those, especially not Japanese.
I really miss being able to visit the Main Street Bakery after work, going to the comedy club on Pleasure Island every Monday night, eating at Earl of Sandwich in Dowtown Disney for weekend lunch, and watching the night time spectacular, Wishes every night. If I don't listen to the soundtrack at least once a week, I go into Wishes Withdrawl.
Hopefully I'll get to work for a bit in Magic Kindom during winter break.
So, that's a little about me, Jane Mccoy. There's prolly more I could talk about, but I'll stop here for now.
Smiles,
Jane Mccoy

Welcome to the forum! I seriously considered being a part of the college program many times. Unfortunately, now that I am currently in my fourth year of college and don't want to extend my education too much longer, it is something I won't be able to do. I'm glad you enjoyed it, though! I can't imagine a more fun place to work.

Welcome Jane McCoy!
It's so funny because my sister went through the same exact thing and had the same exact experience! (hint hint)
Welcome to UD and be careful because you get sucked into the swirling vortex of the message board world here at UltimateDisney.com! (hey, Luke we should use that as a commercial or pop up advertisement, lol, jk)

p.s. I've read some of your other posts and it seems Disney has turned you into a walking talking human WDW advertisement!

hello!
I signed up yesterday and thought i had better introduce myself:)
I come from Middle Earth, New zealand, or Aoteroa whatever you want to call it:)
I have a huge passion for disney, and animation for that matter. My first disney movie was the lion king in 1994.
I became so addicted. everything about that movie is perfect, the animation, the designs, the vocal talent and the heart.
Being stuck on a little island in the pacific i have never been to WDW:(
But when i finish my qualification in 2005 i am travelling to korea to work off my student loan, so i might find the time to come across and visit!
cannnt wait
