UK Bambi 55th Anniversary Edition Cover

Post by 2099net »

From the Aladdin Insert. Notice the UK is apparently getting a 55th Anniversary Limited Edition, not a "Special Edtion" or a "collectors edition"
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

So what's the verdict? This is somehow the remains from the old release schedule?

Somehow, I doubt Disney UK would have prepared a cover over two years in advance. They can't even prepare a press release two months in advance

I've just realised, that we must all have been miscounting. if Bambi was released in 1942, that would make it 63 years old in 2005, so the 55the anniversary cover is 8 years out of date. It is the same cover that was used for the vhs release 8 years ago!

I think that this is defenetely not the final box art, I think they just used it as promotional thing, missing that there was still standing 55th aniversery edition
(sorry for the bad english)

Yeah and plus it's not the way Disney designs its DVD now : "Walt Disney's Classic" banner is missing, it's not a limited edition and it's also not the way Disney presents its Platinum Editions (wether it's in UK or elswhere)

I am sure this is not the final "Bambi" cover, as the user "advance" said, they are using it only for promotion, specially because it's the same cover of the VHS released years ago...

Bambi never had a 55th anniversary reissue in the UK. It was first released on video here in 1994. I do remember seeing it adverstised in Blockbuster as coming soon some years later, but this proposed re-release never happened, so perhaps this is unused art work for that release.

Likewise a Disney video insert in the mid/late 1990s featured Melody Time as coming soon, sometime before it was made available. Thus proving Disney's crummy release schedule is nothing new!
See ya real soon!

I would have been able to notice this myself had the Aladdin Trilogy set had ANY inserts whatsoever. I actually felt very cheated by that, since it means I don't have the chapter listings for ANY of the films or even the promotional booklets which i always like to have. Do you think Disney would send them to me if i wrote and asked?! :)

Overall the Aladdin Trilogy box feels really cheap, I almost wish I'd bought the releases seperately...

This is simply a reuse of the last US VHS edition (released in 1997), which was also labelled "55th Anniversary Edition"

The UK "Aladdin" (www.disney.co.uk) site has a new version for the "Bambi" DVD cover. You need to dowload the Fun Zone under the Fun and Games section to see it.
I could post the cover here but I don't have a place to store the picture.

And here's the cover:

I think it looks WAY better, only the left side is a little empty.

I thought my Coustom Artworks were piles of garbage.

This is even worse, this makes mine looks like Rembrandts

Uhm, sorry to burst your bubble Chris but that UK cover is a LOT better than your "piles of garbage" (in your own words) custom covers.
