Regardless, is Disney going to promote it as a product from WDAS or DTVA? Or neither?

Believe its getting a Walt Disney Studio over WDAS or DTVA.

but from my book, this is basically a WDAS product
-Pablos and other at his studio are ex WDAS animators and he's the Animation supervisor. Its similar to Enchanted with Jamas Baxter Studio being lead and James Baxter (ex Disney) being the Animation supervisor. Or Ken Duncan Studio being lead studio and Ken Duncan (ex Disney) being the Animation supervisor on Mary Poppins Returns.
-Favreau has said numerous ex WDAS 2D animators are back
-Favreau even indicated that some even are still at WDAS
-An animation product made by WDAS or ex WDAS for Disney itself for me is basically WDAS.
-one has to remember that WDAS doesn't have a real 2D department its more of a skeleton crew. There aren't enough people to make something like this. THIS is closest possible to WDAS...

for me this is no different than the Disneyland tv show. From 1954-1970 the Disneyland tv show produced LOADS of animation for the show and it was never credited to WDAS its only credited to individual animators who all worked at WDAS. Even now everywhere you go, the show is never credited to WDAS even though its basically is in all but name.

Have to say this is my most anticipated Disney Animation project with Lilo & Scratch being in 2nd place, always 2D ahead.

after playing Epic Mickey 1-2 ages ago always wanted Disney to do MORE with character. They got the rights back and it took them a 100th anniversary just to make a real Oswald project since Epic Mickey is still focused on Mickey. And Oswald other showings are basically cameos or a very very short short in 2022. Like all that fuss in mid-2000s about getting character back and not much was done with him.....I do hope that this show kickstarts the character comeback in a more concrete and perm way. Nomura of Kingdom Hearts has wanted to use Oswald for ages but always get blocked too whether because of Epic Mickey or other dumb reasons. Here's hoping he gets to finally use the character in future.

I only watched the Oswald Shorts in 2025, never did prior as last time I checked years ago, it was like 15ish shorts online. Now there are loads more on Youtube+Internet Archive. You basically have 19 full shorts, 1 Neck N Neck which is a 2 min home release and best one can hope for and then another short Sagebrush Sadie between pencil test+storyboard you basically get the whole story of the short. That's a jump to like 21/27 at this point in time. Another Sleigh Bell you basically have segments here and there online but have yet to watch that since a complete version of it could be released in future. Hot Dogs looks to have been discovered in 2025 too. Wonder if Sleigh Bell and Hot Dogs get a 100th anniversary release along with this show? Could jump to 23/27, getting closer to full.

have to say Oswald is such a fun character for a silent era character. One can also see the beginning of Walt's genius with Oswald. The Winkler Oswald run and Lantz Oswald are a clear downgrade compared to Disney run. Even though Winkler Oswald was basically Walt's crew minus Walt, Iwerks, Clark (apprentice at time), and Jackson (apprentice at time), they all failed to match Disney's Oswald's quality. And that was the plot, that Walt is a hack and if you take his animators you can make the character work well anyways only to show that it was Walt who made the character.

I'm also glad that Disney is FINALLY using one of their bunny characters.
it's interesting to see how successful Disney has been with Rabbit cartoony characters but behind the scenes issues is what screwed things up 3/3 times.

1-Oswald, HUGE success, lost to backstabbing.
2-Brer Rabbit, HUGE success and Walt wanted to spin him off as a star of short series but after the backlash to Song of the South he basically nixed idea and the character was banished into comics for decades. Like almost everyone agrees whether they liked movie or not that the Brer Rabbit, Brer Bear and Brer Fox were best part of film.
3-Roger Rabbit, HUGE success but Disney/Eisner made the stupid decision of giving Spielberg 50% share....like everyone knows you never do that at max you give 49% never half. And then after heading butts over movies to release the shorts with and Spielberg not wanting to do WWII in comedy way after Schlinder's List and him vetoing ideas....it basically killed the character in 90s.

With Oswald back at Disney this is a chance for one of the Rabbit Characters to make a comeback, the other 2 will never happen. Interesting to note how 3/3 got Live Action/2D Projects, Song of the South (1946), Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), Oswald (2027).
