If anyone cares: UK Treasure Planet Annoucement

Post by 2099net »

Release: 7th July 2003. Seems the same as the US release - no mention is made of a DTS soundtrack (but I suspect it will be included based on it being included in the French release).

Don't you just love these annoucements that make no mention of the disc specs - no aspect ratio, soundtrack, price or subtitle details. :(

Ehh....No...

Unfortunately this is not the case with the Swedish release (June 18th). Although you do get both a French and an Icelandic soundtrack.

The Swedish disc has been confirmed to include the film featured in Anamorphic Widescreen with the following extras:

¤ Disneypedia ¤ Treasure Hunt (Game) ¤ "I'm Still There" Music Video ¤ Audio Commentary by the Creators ¤ Behind-the-scenes ¤ Deleted Scenes

Then again: Who cares? Right?

Sounds the same as the R4 release (coming out 21st May). To the best of my knowledge though - again haven't had any "official" specs posted here - we are only getting a DD5.1 (as per the info here http://www.atlanticdvd.com.au/view.cfm?id=5465 ). We also seem to get English, Czech, Hungarian, Arabic tracks. Given that the UK and Australian releases are substantially similar (if not identical) most of the time, this may not bode well for the inclusion of a DTS track there. However, given that these aren't official specs and that France is getting the DTS track you may be in luck...

Disney seems to have a great history of that, particularly in non-US regions. Most of the time the official website is not even updated to reflect new releases, so you really don't know what is on the disc until you are holding it (in the case of some disc, until you actually play it!).

But once again, who cares :D

Well, I added the "if anyone cares" because it seems the UK is getting the disc later than almost everywhere else in the world (still no Japanese announcement to my knowledge though - does any one know when Treasure Planet opened in the cinemas over there?).

I have a wide range of DVDs from various regions (and I have the French 2 disc set on order) as well as having the R1 release. I certainly meant no disrespect to European DVDs (as you can see, I live in the UK)
