I know Sadie Sink was on Broadway before ST. She was in Annie. So I'm assuming yes, she can sing.

She wasn't my first thought, but I could absolutely live with it.

Anyways, I'd be happy if it were true that ScarJo was actually not moving forward with the project. I've loved her in most everything I've seen her in, but I just couldn't see her playing Gothel.

I don’t have strong feelings about Taylor Swift as a performer, but she’s 35 years old. She’s too old for the role. I feel the same way about Amanda Seyfried, who is even older.

Honestly, it’ll probably be some 20-something I (a 30 year old) have only a vague knowledge of or have never heard of at all.

Love Taylor but she's really tall for the role, she's 5'11". The actor who plays Flynn should be taller than her.

I'll admit, I'm pretty bearish on the idea of like teen pop celebrities, musicians, Disney Channel alumni getting the roles, and that's half of the names that have been floated for this film. But I'll also admit that this would have disqualified Mandy Moore from voicing Rapunzel in the first place, and I loved what she did. So, it's not a hard stop for me. But I'll agree that T-Swift has probably aged out of this specific role.

I also saw word that Mason Thames is circling the role of Flynn, though I'm not sure whether that's from an official source. If it were, it would only reinforce why I don't think he should have been cast for "Hiccup." Any person who could reasonably be considered for Flynn Rider has no business playing the awkward misfit son of a Viking.

That rumor came from The DisInsider who is not very reliable. I think it's highly unlikely he'll be cast in the role.

The studio is currently testing actresses for the role of Rapunzel, a shortlist for Flynn has yet to be put together but a name to keep an eye on would be Mason Thames (Black Phone, How to Train Your Dragon) as Disney has their eyes on him.

Teagan Croft & Milo Manheim Land Lead Roles In Disney’s Live-Action ‘Tangled’ Movie



Up-and-comers Teagan Croft (Titans) and Milo Manheim (Zombies franchise) have landed the lead roles in Disney‘s live-action Tangled movie, based on their Academy Award-nominated 2010 animated feature, Deadline can confirm.

While Scarlett Johansson was recently eyeing the villain role of Mother Gothel, she’s fallen off the project, leaving that role still open.

I don't have a lot of context for either of these guys, which is probably the best case I could ask for. Without a lot of star power, I have to imagine that these guys would have landed the role based on simply being right for the role.

I have heard of Milo Manheim from college aged coworkers at my old job. They were fans of his from Zombies, Dancing with the Stars, and that musical nativity movie I haven’t seen. They were pretty big fans! Haha

It’s kinda rare nowadays to see a Disney Channel star cross over into one of Disney’s blockbuster live action films, though, so that’s an interesting development

None of the actors they've picked or are looking at are perfect casts, imo, but at least generally fine. I hope they pick Paniz Rahnama over Hahn. A shame though they didn't pick Carpenter for Rapunzel since I know she was interested. Cher was probably unattainable, so I suppose I give them a pass for that. It's a shame though.

Still, since this should do decently thanks to them picking a cast that actually look like the characters... Well, as long as we don't hear about severe changes later like song and character cuts, etc.--even then, I expect it would still outperform Mulan, TLM, and Snow White which flopped because they went the crazy route and also better than Cinderella, Dumbo, MPR, and Christopher Robin because it's a more recent property. In the event it ends up doing a billion like the other recent properties that were faithful, that would give them an opening to revisiting the original film and turning it into a franchise. The remakes--when done correctly--revitalize a property. And with Disney looking for easy money makers, Tangled could be relevant enough again to do that with after a successful remake.

And the TV series gives them an easy map to make a trilogy out of, with Varian, Cassandra and especially Zhan Tiri. Easy to cut it down for two films. 2 could have the first act be Rapunzel regaining her hair, meeting Varian, following the spikes to the Dark Kingdom, splice the two plots together to have Rapunzel not showing up to help Varian because she went to the Dark Kingdom to find out the truth. That way you have his heel turn scene right before the final scene of Cassandra taking the moon fragment for a strong cliffhanger building into 3. Drop plenty of hints towards Tiri throughout of course and definitely keep the Decay Incantation scene, that was so good. Then first part of 3 is dealing with Varian mostly before they both turn towards dealing with Cassandra and ultimately Zhan Tiri. Just hopefully they'd end it all with the perfect "I See the Light" (reprise) ending of Rapunzel accepting the ring that could've been this time.
