Re: Rank all the Disney DTV Sequels You've Seen!
So this is a thread that exists:
1. The Tigger Movie (brb crying)
2. Cinderella 3
3. Lion King 1 1/2 (this movie is just so darn charming and hilarious, even if "childhood ruining")
4. An Extremely Goofy Movie (there are some really funny and relatable chunks in there, even if it's all aged horribly)
5. Aladdin and the King of Thieves
6. Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch has a glitch
7. Lion King 2 (I honestly think it's overrated. The story is cliche and stupid and Simba is nothing like he was in the original movies. Still, it's the sequel that is most comparable to the original film (especially animation and music wise), and I think that's why everyone puts it above the other DTV sequels).
8. Emperor's New Groove 2(after this is where I start really disliking them. Yeah, there's a reason why I haven't seen a lot of them. I do want to eventually binge watch the Tinker Bell films though. I just need to find the time)
9. Bambi 2
10. Lady and the Tramp 2
11. Peter Pan 2
12. Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas
13. Mulan 2
14. Little Mermaid 2
15. Little Mermaid 3

Re: Rank all the Disney DTV Sequels You've Seen!
Oh, please find some time for them. I avoided them like the plague, only to be extremely pleasantly surprised when I finally saw them. Saddest thing is, with the final two films they reached the point where they became really good (the final film had me all choked up!) only to have the whole series suddenly cancelled/put on hold. Call me crazy, but I'd actually call The Pirate Fairy and The Legend of the NeverBeast Disney's best output of 2014/2015, Pixar and live-action films included.Tangled wrote:I do want to eventually binge watch the Tinker Bell films though. Re: Rank all the Disney DTV Sequels You've Seen!
This is everything by DisneyToon Studios I've seen, but I just threw in a couple sequels not made by DisneyToon Studios, too.
1. A Goofy Movie
2. DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp
3. Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin
4. The Rescuers Down Under
5. The Tigger Movie
6. Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas
7. Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas
8. The Return of Jafar
9. Aladdin and the King of Thieves
10. Bambi II
11. The Lion King II: Simba's Pride
12. Secret of the Wings
13. Cinderella III: Twist in Time
14. Mulan II
15. The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning
16. The Lion King 1 and 1/2
17. Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure
18. Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers
19. Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure
20. The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea
21. Tinker Bell
22. Return to Never Land
23. Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World
24. Kronk's New Groove
25. Tarzan II
26. An Extremely Goofy Movie
27. The Jungle Book 2
28. Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue
29. Piglet's Big Movie
30. Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Magical World
31. Cinderella II: Dreams Come True
32. The Hunchback of Notre Dame II
33. Atlantis: Milo's Return
I'd probably rank Ariel's Beginning a bit higher if Kenneth Mars had been able to take part at the time since it doesn't quite feel like TLM without him; I only watch if for Jodi Benson and Sally Field (who does a great job with a throwaway character, btw--too bad she didn't get to voice a villain in a major Disney film back when they had good villains). Pocahontas II and Scamp's Adventure are two of the few sequels I'd have been on-board with if they'd just done a better job... The love interest is the worst part about that SA. Everything below Tarzan II is an extremely painful experience.

Re: Rank all the Disney DTV Sequels You've Seen!
I can’t participate because I haven’t seen any. No interest. IMO, nothing can top the originals.

Re: Rank all the Disney DTV Sequels You've Seen!
Not sure how this came about but right now I am having a lot of fun discovering all the direct-to-video sequels. Never saw any of them before and it strikes me how varied the quality of these releases is: some of them are absolutely terrible while others are almost as good as the original films. The quality of the animation is especially varied: there is stuff that wouldn't even be good enough for TV whereas most of the stuff that was released post 2000 has really good animation.
Hard to rank them all but of the ones that I have seen I can say which ones I thought were good and which ones were bad. The ones that aren't named below I either haven't seen or fall somewhat in the middle.
Good:
Mulan 2
Bambi 2
Both Lion King sequels
Both Aladdin sequels
The Fox and the Hound 2
Brother Bear 2
101 Dalmations 2
Lady and the Tramp 2
Jungle Book 2
Tarzan 2
Ariels Beginning
All of the Winnie the Pooh sequels
Bad:
Pocahontas 2
Tarzan & Jane
Atlantis: Milo's Return
The Hunchback of Notre Dame II

Re: Rank all the Disney DTV Sequels You've Seen!
The ones I like to return to
. Lion King II
. Return To Neverland
. Most of the Pooh movies
. Stitch The Movie/pilot
. Mickey's Magical Christmas
. Lion King 1/2
.King of Thieves
. Patch's London Adventure
- At times, Mulan II, A Twist in Time,
The Atlantis one, ( I wanted to see more of the Atlantis world expanded upon. It had potential to be so much more )
The ones I find bad with merits, and still highly enjoyable.
- Mulan II
The princesses are fun, the opening song I can definitely see as canon. If I see it on tv, I wouldn't mind just to watch the chaos of this sequel play out. I think this movie knows it's bad, which is why the chaos still somehow works as enjoyable. Don't expect Mulan 1998's writing and this can be a good experience. I'm just happy to spend more time in this world. Ironically I think the dubbing team realized how bad the english dialogue was. So they rewrote the whole
( My Duty is to my Heart ) Into ( Perhaps it is one's duty to follow their heart as well? ) Because of this I was confused why so many hated Mulan, until I saw the English version; which indeed can come off as selfish. I still have good time visiting it at times.
- The Little Mermaid 2
It takes us to a new arctic setting, I enjoy the scenes with the piranha shark and Morgana. It's silly but carries some charm to it.
- The Jungle Book 2
Aside from the horrible tropes of boys vs girls & overprotective father (could have resolved the whole story, if he just conversed, aka Tramp & Scamp) it carries more depth for Mowgli's dilemma between the two worlds quite well. It's fast paced and I like Shere Khan's presence. Finally there is the ink & paint of the film, in particular the backgrounds pop with lush colors and different set pieces that had to be given some detail & care. The goodbye sequence between Mowgli & Baloo feels like it should fit to a better movie, cause that moment was really well done.
- Kronk's New Groove
Kronk can be out of character, the segment with the scouts can be a chore to watch, but the music is fun! And any implement I can get from Kitt's Yzma is worth it. This one definitely doesn't feel canon though.
- Scamp's Adventure
The script starts really bad. Especially the start of the film in Lady's house; which feels dumbed down to suit toddlers. But as soon as Scamp runs away, it features the memorable character Angel. Making it worth the watch; including the high quality look of the film. I remember being in particular impressed by the art direction of this one compared to other direct to video sequels, before Lion King 1/2 2003 came out. It just looked very appealing visually and like they bothered to put in some work into the line-work, shading & backgrounds. I just wish they had put more effort into the actual story.
- Tarzan 2
I love more Tarzan content, but the stakes are very low. The only thing that keeps it from falling apart is the funny villains, ink & paint aesthetic & the heart that still remains. But I still wonder why they changed Terk's design by color. I believe Sergio Pablos came back to work on Tantor on this.
Bambi II was also fine, although a little too juvenile for my taste.
