“We’re working on a script. It’s always on the page; if we don’t have it on the page, it’s not gonna get on the screen,” Bruckheimer told The Wrap, adding: “We had two scripts at one point, and then one kinda dropped out, and then we kinda went on with the other one.”
When asked if the Robbie project was the one the dropped out, Bruckheimer noted, “Well, she’s still involved.”

Source: https://www.thewrap.com/jerry-bruckheim ... rill-2025/Bruckheimer gave a promising update on the planned sixth installment in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise. “We’re working on a script,” Bruckheimer told TheWrap’s Drew Taylor, before noting that the project will not move forward until he and his collaborators are happy with what has been written. “If we don’t have it on the page, it’s not gonna get on the screen.” “We had two scripts at one point, and then one kind of dropped out and we kind of went with the other one,” Bruckheimer said, when asked about the past iterations of the still-developing sequel.
Contrary to previous reports, Bruckheimer revealed that “Barbie” star Margot Robbie, who was reportedly set to star in a scrapped take on “Pirates 6” years ago, is still attached in some capacity to the franchise’s next installment. “She’s still involved,” the producer said, adding that “Pirates” franchise veteran Ted Elliott contributed to the sixth installment’s current script. “He worked on it, and we’ve brought someone else in to fill in the blanks.”
“The hardest one has been ‘Pirates’ so far,” Bruckheimer confessed, while reflecting on the franchises that have been the most difficult for him to keep going. It has been eight years since the series’ last installment, 2017’s “Dead Men Tell No Tales,” hit theaters. “That world is so cool and specific,” Bruckheimer observed. “You just gotta find the right way in.”

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 6
Source: https://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/ ... got-robbieAccording to Jeff Sneider, Disney’s newly appointed CEO, Josh D’Amaro, and president Dana Walden are reportedly prioritizing the revival of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. The insider claimed that Academy Award nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917) is said to be in talks with the studio to write the screenplay for Pirates of the Caribbean 6. In addition, he also revealed that the reboot might potentially center around Jack Sparrow’s son and a female lead character. The latter is expected to be played by Robbie, who was originally meant to lead a Pirates of the Caribbean spin-off. Disney is reportedly looking to “create an original, iconic character, one envisioned as a punk-rock cross between Jack Sparrow and Emma Stone’s Cruella de Vil.”

Same issue with Barbossa having a daughter. I'm just left wondering ... when? Or more importantly, I guess ... who?
Also, what seance are they using to commune with the damned souls who are asking for this reboot? 'Cause there sure ain't any in this mortal plane.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 6
For the record, I am! These movies happen to be my favorite, with Captain Jack sparrow himself being my favourite character in all fiction. I honestly don’t understand why everybody hates the later pirates will be so much, as I find the first one the most problematic out of all of them, and I’m actually even kind of shocked that people like it as much as they do. It has horrible pacing, and way too much talking in backstory that I know for a fact that most people who are around my age whenever they first saw it were way too young to understand literally half what is going on and yet they and others praise it so much. Don’t give me wrong, I do like it, and it has actually grown on me, but I honestly prefer all of the sequels to the original, even if they may not be 100% perfect, but then again nothing in life truly is, and let alone. They have no less problems than anything else that receives high praise such as Star Wars.PatchofBlue wrote: ↑Sun Feb 08, 2026 1:05 am Same issue with Barbossa having a daughter. Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 6
I guess I was speaking prematurely.
The only one I really hate was the most recent one, though I'm secure in my reading that they never really recaptured the electricity of the first movie. There are good things in Pirates 2-4, even if there are specific narrative choices that get in my way. But I'm in a better position to appreciate 2 & 3 especially these days.

The only one I hated was 3. 4 was quite bland though. I loved 1, 2, and 5. At least 5 had a good ending, but it's such a shame 6 isn't happening. I was really looking forward to the character reunion.
Can't say I'd have interest in a remake.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 6
This is the sixth movie? They are continuing. They’re just amalgam all previous ideas into one, with hammer already stating there’s gonna be some returning characters and even quite potentially Johnny Depp back as well? They’re using the term remake is a misconception and misinterpretation on their part, it is indeed to continuation, at most a soft reboot, but it’s still overall the same continuity and overall continuation. Heck, the fifth one is kind of a soft reboot as it is anyway.Disney's Divinity wrote: ↑Wed Feb 11, 2026 10:47 pm The only one I hated was 3. 4 was quite bland though. I loved 1, 2, and 5.
