It's weird what they did but let's see what happens in the movie! There's only two months for the release. I can't believe how fast time passes. I'm going to miss having news and photos of the movie during all the year.

Less than a month now. I can't wait to hear the whole soundtrack, but the full "For Good" especially. I think several theaters are showing the first film, too. I might watch them together, if possible.

They ruined the title cards consistency.

We rewatched Wicked: Part I Friday night. It still holds up. It feels like a new family movie musical classic. I often rewatch movies like that during the holidays and I can 100% foresee it joining the line-up alongside the 1939 The Wizard of Oz.

Wicked: For Good, OTOH, well… it’s not bad. It’s solid. But it doesn’t reach the heights of Part I. Mostly, I think that’s baked into the material. Act I was always stronger than Act II, and I think that’s still very much the case with this duo of movies and the filmmakers here didn’t do enough to combat that, if combating it was even possible.

I didn’t have issues so much with the lighting in the first film (although many critics certainly did) but here, I found some of the lighting distracting. Particularly during Elphaba’s scene with Nessarose… I saw the movie in 3D and I actually tried to swivel my head because I thought there was just something obstructing my field of vision, but no it was actually in the film. And in general, I thought a lot of the lighting was too dark. I also felt the staging of some of the big numbers was lacking. And lastly, I felt perhaps that the famous cat fight scene was maybe played with too much levity. That’s the way it’s played onstage, but it felt at odds with the film’s tone and seemed discordant with the scene that follows. Comedic relief is important, but usually it comes after intense scenes, not immediately before. I dunno, I felt the previous film made some smart choices in rethinking some comic elements of the stage show to give them more gravitas and higher stakes (the dance at the Ozdust and the entire character of Madame Morrible, who’s still delectably played by the amazing Michelle Yeoh).

I had hoped that their restraint in adding new songs to Part I would mean that they were taking great care in their decision to add new songs to Act II… but I dunno, I didn’t think either song was all that memorable or necessary. I like Elphaba’s song a little better than Glinda’s.

Don’t get me wrong— it’s not a bad time… I liked the choice to incorporate Glinda into “Wonderful,” for instance. And everyone I saw it with liked the movie, but we also all agreed the previous film was better. I might have liked to have seen a universe where they trimmed a little of Part I and a lot of For Good and made it one movie. As it stands, I foresee myself revisiting Part I a lot more often than For Good.

Last observation, from what I understand, Ariana Grande is among the front runners for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar, but after seeing the film, I actually think there’s a very strong case to be made that Glinda is actually the lead in this new movie. I may need to rewatch the movies in one sitting to accustom myself to that idea— it feels like Part I is Elphaba’s movie and For Good is Glinda’s.

I went to the theater to see the second one on Saturday. I think I'm in the minority, but I enjoyed it a whole lot more than the first. Both Cynthia and Ariana were stellar in this one. That finale gave me goosebumps.

Saw it Sunday. In the middle during "Wonderful" and the wedding crash I had to get our drinks because they didn't bring them to us (was at a theater where they bring your food), but what I did see? Was near perfect. Everything I loved in the first film, the quality of directing, acting, visuals, was brought here except with even better showcases of acting. I just felt the two new songs nearly ruined the masterpieceness of it. It isn't as powerful as the first film, but I think that's just because it doesn't have "Defying Gravity". This second film is more emotionally powerful and the last shot is an emotional clincher.

I'd love to see a reality where this had been on film like Brelly said, and maybe they will make a supercut, who knows. But I can't wait to see it again to see the film in its entirety, and I will certainly watch both parts together whenever I wanna watch Wicked now.

I hope Ariana gets a nom for Best Actress, but a lot of people think Jesse Buckley will win. Haven't seen her, so I dunno.

I saw the movie last night. And while I overall liked it, I agree with those who thought the sequel was inferior to it`s predecessor. However, it was still a good movie for the same reasons as the first movie: The visuals, the music and the overall atmosphere and fantasy vibe. The opening was a little more serious and felt a little out of place. However, what struck me is how the complexities of the relationships were even more expanded in the sequel. But it was still a good thing that the movie wasn`t as long as it`s predecessor. Cause the length of the first Wicked could`ve been trimmed down. But all in all, it was a good movie and a satisfying was to end the story.

I pre-ordered the steelbook just like with the first film. I feel like the first film had the better cover as far as their steelbooks, but the second film had a nicer standard cover than the first did.

I enjoyed this one more than the first one too. The second act is not really amazing in the stage show so I went with less expectatives to see de movie.
