Q: Of course, I have to bring up a certain franchise called Frozen. Iโve heard it's very popular, and you guys are making two sequels. What can you tell people about them? Is the third and fourth a two-part movie, or are there separate stories in each one?
Jared Bush: Some of that is under wraps, but what I'd share with you is that right now, the work being done on Frozen 3, specifically, is phenomenal. When people see it, I think returning to that world with those characters, the entertainment value of watching them go on a new journey, but that feels very organic to the story they've already been on, is fantastic. For me personally, I think that it's critical to make sure that every movie we do is fantastic. We have the luxury of being able to look at movies many times, so looking at Frozen 3 as, โCan we tell the very best story we can with that and not worry about where we're going to split into that next story,โ is sort of important. One thing at a time is, to me, the best way to approach it.
Q: Have you guys started working on the music? Have you heard the song? Each of the frozen movies has the song.
Jared Bush: The song is always deeply tied to what the character's story is going to be and what those dynamics are. I'd say I have an idea of what that's going to be. That's very exciting. I think we'll surprise people in the best way. I guess thatโs as much as I can say about that.
The gaslighting....
I gotta give them kudos for pulling the release date a year further to give the process time to cook, but after Moan 2 and Frozen 2 and after all the fake hype stating "were so proud of those trash movies, they might be better than the first and its something u HAVE to see on the big screen" only for those movies to be the most forgettable trash ever. I will value Frozen 2 for its beautiful costume design, setting and songs, but the characters and story was a complete joke. Nothing redeemable to say here about M2. I will ignore their fake praise for now but im really hoping this might be something worthy. I mean based on the concept art and it being a 2 part thing, i assume they already have a clear story set, unlike F2 which didnt even had a clear Vision until like 8 months before release so technically this should be a better sequel

Wait. Do you mean Frozen III is getting delayed beyond 2027? If so, what with the 2026 original feature gone, what on earth are we getting for the next couple of years?
Pixar has three original films coming up: Elio, Hopper and Gatto. Why can't we get some good news out of WDAS?
They're always going to promote their new films in positive terms... Who promotes anything in negative terms? Anyway, I liked Frozen 2 just fine...but I actually liked the first one, too, so that's probably the difference. Who cares what time period there was as to when they locked in on the exact points of the story? Plenty of films like Aladdin rushed their story almost at the last minute, it means nothing in relation to how much a person does or doesn't enjoy a movie.
Moana 2 actually is a mess though. But we know that's because it was TV series first which is why it has pacing issues.

lol no no no i just meant the original change from 2026 to 2027 this was the only real positive sign for me to indicate that the filmmakers wont let it get rushed again like their previous trash. Based on facts it should be better than Frozen 2, but i could be wrong tho as we're talking about WDAS in this case...

dont worry Juju we have Moana 3, Zootopia 2&3 and Encanto 2 to look forward to!!! What an AMAZING time to look forward to the iconic Company that embraces traditional storytelling to this day!

thats not what i indicated?? but ok... i'll try to explain it easier so u can follow along : when writers and directors dont have any clue what the main plot beats or emotional focus of their own movie is, (even just a few months before release) it surely explains why some movies are trash, like F2. A huge embarrassment thinking how they were given 6+ years just to do a last Minute spin on it. Also funny how u point out Aladdin which only had like less than 2 years for its development, so its "rushed production" wasnt really a huge Deal compared to now as they were used to it with their limited timeframe

That's not really how I'd personally characterize the movie. I feel like detractors will fixate on really specific parts of the film, or the Disney+ making of doc series, and draw some conclusions that may or may not reflect the film or the nature of filmmaking.
The doc revealed that, yeah, they had a hard time nailing down exactly what Elsa was going to find in Ahtohallan, and they had to workshop a couple of ideas before they landed on what felt right. But that's not so unique to this film. I was rewatching "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" a little bit ago and I remembered how the filmmakers cycled through a bunch of potential endings, some where Joel and Clementine definitively had a future, some where they didn't, and a couple where it was ambiguous, before they decided to end it the way they did. I'll bet if Michel Gondry had participated in a behind-the-scenes documentary of the film's development, that would have been a storyline they would have followed. That's just the artistic process, you just put on and take off a bunch of different clothes until what you have in front of you matches what you're seeing in your mind's eye.
Frozen II's story beats have always felt really clear and really relevant to me. It probes the sustainability of a stable happy ending by showing what happens when you have someone you love whose trajectory just seems to take them away from you. Anna worked hard to repair her relationship with Elsa, and this new development with her being called to the magic forest threatens to fracture that forever. On the one hand, you're seeing Elsa really come into herself and achieve a form of actualization she never could have in her "conceal don't feel" mindset which is really gratifying; on the other hand, you're also really invested in the closeness between the sisters and don't want to risk any future in which that is lost. And that's kind of why you're not totally sure what you want to happen.
When the filmmakers say that this movie feels like a natural extension of the first movie, I don't think they're suggesting that they always knew there was a magic forest with element spirits or whatnot. I think they mean that the film takes the two points of tension which were aligned in the first movie (these two can become sisters again after Elsa starts to feel comfortable in her skin) and creates a scenario in which it feels like the two are in competition. Of course, the movie finds a way to thread them both together, but I feel like that's also true to how a lot of major life transitions go. It can feel like you're facing a zero-sum game, but after you do the hard thing, things are different, but the things that were important are still in place. It's like Olaf telling Anna that love is the one thing that doesn't change.
I feel like the movie knows what movie it is, and anytime I bother to try following all the threads, I can see how they work together. Who knows, if I really sat down, maaaaaaybe I could do the same for Moana 2, but I'm going to gamble and say that it's not likely ...
While I don't put the movie beyond criticism, I do kind of feel like a lot of the pushback comes mostly from the weird love/hate relationship the culture has with "that one princess movie from 2013, and that insufferable song that wouldn't stop playing on the radio for three years." Like, the world doesn't want to go back to that, and so they let themselves believe the movie is a lot more confused than it actually is.

First note: I love that you called me "Juju". I get that name a lot in real life, though in my language people put the stress on the second syllable, not the first. (My real name is Julian.)
Second note: Forgive me, but I absolutely cannot tell whether your comment re Disney's upcoming features was sincere or sarcastic, lol. I have no doubt that if all those films were to materialise, there is no conceivable reason for them not to be good - or even great. But, being the human I am, I feel a bit sceptical that filmmakers will find worthy stories to tell within all those universes (though not for lack of effort.)
At the very least, I want WDAS to keep a steady stream of original features alongside their sequels, if the latter have now become a necessary evil. (At least one original film for every sequel ...)
Thank you for your cheerful presence on these forums (fora?), DisneyNerd.

When u see me praising upcoming WDAS sequels, it will ALWAYS be sarcastic lol. Normally i wouldnt automatically judge before seeing the results, but with all the recent WDAS sequels, its always been a prominent downgrade. Sometimes sequels CAN be great and even deeper or better than the first but WDAS is simply not build to develop them, they were always classic storytellers, even Walt hated the concept of continuing his beloved classics even tho they would have been guranteed financial successes. The only sequel of WDAS im really looking forward to is Encanto 2, but they gotta kick annoying Mirabel from the Casita and the protagonist role as she found her fate and give the attention to Camilo as he was actually a tragic character and also literally the only magical character without any arc or focus in the movie (besides the parents but meh idc lol) so theres great great potential (also he was my fav character). The first one didnt really set the bar high so there is tons of air for improvement.

Q: You brought up Frozen, and I know that you guys are working on another one right now. What can you tease people? Have you started recording? Have you heard songs?
Josh Gad: We have not started recording. We have not heard songs yet. I was lucky enough to get sort of a preview of what the movie is, and it's going to be worth the wait. It's pretty extraordinary what they're doing. Pretty extraordinary. For me, my whole thing was don't do a sequel unless there's a reason to do a sequel. If you have a story worth telling, then call us up and let's do it. To Jennifer Lee's credit, she really took that note and gave herself that note and has created something that's going to be worth the wait.
Q: I could be wrong about this, but aren't there two Frozen movies?
Josh Gad: That is above my pay grade. I think the plan, what they've announced, is that there is a Frozen 3 and 4 in the works. The story that I've been kind of previewed is the grandest story we've ever done, so I anticipate it's going to be a little too much for one movie.
I am actually very curious how Frozen 3 and 4 will turn out. Wishing the team at WDAS every luck as expectations are understandably high and they must be under quite some pressure.
During a recent Disney Consumer Products presentation in Shanghai, a first synopsis for the film was revealed.

In this new chapter, witness Arendelleโs wedding of the century as Queen Anna walks down the aisle, then joins Elsa on a new magical journey filled with unknown challenges. And whatโs even more exciting: the royal family is about to welcome a mysterious new member!

...
Sorry. That was, uh, Disney Consumer Products' reaction.
I guess only TP&TF and Frozen translate the feel of older, so-called "princess films" as far as having all the outfit changes, leads with incredible vocals, romance. Of course, TP&TF is held back by Randy Newman and too much time in frog form, but otherwise...
At least Tangled: The Series provided some of what that film lacked (and there'sthe short that gave Rapunzel a wedding dress), but it's not really the same thing. Moana is closer since she has the Voyager and Chief outfits. And at least Moana's regular attire is nice to look at unlike Rapunzel's. Mirabel's, Raya's, and Asha's outfits are all nice, but they definitely should've given them more than one look for the full film.

Well, it`s nice that we`ve received at least some information about the plot. And even two years before the movie premieres. It`s not surprising that it will center around a wedding. And a new mysterious new member. But I thought that Aladdin and Jasmine`s wedding in Aladdin & The King of Thieves was the wedding of the Century . Sorry, I couldn`t resist.

the wording makes it sound like either another magical family member like OUATs Ice Queen aunt Ingrid type or perhaps Kristoffs parents who abondened him for mysterious reasons like a prophecy or smth.
All i know is the Wedding is getting Interrupted last minute like Aladdins as they have to stop evil forces with Elsa. I hope this time the central conflict for the couple will be that their love and upcoming marriage will be tested like in the deleted Frozen 2 scenes. They will finalize their wedding in the 4th one and Elsa dies for a mythical sacrifice, in other words, Frozen 2s earlier draft.
I know its impossible but i would LOVE if WDAS would have a couple getting married with aftermath and the marriage being PART of the journey, not the END of it with its clichee storybook ending. Thats why i hated Ever After movie Weddings since i was a child because it felt like whenever they were getting married their life will be over, as if nothing else will happen in their lifes after it.
So i would really appreciate if Frozen 3 has their marriage early on before the main conflict happens, and then them getting tested and questioning throughout 3-4 if they regretted their choice, which would be interesting. Shrek 2 did a wonderful job exploring that. Ok enough wedding rant.
