I don't think this would work at all. While being a huge hit as films, I didn't think the film had done well in merchandise? For whatever reason, it seems to have more of a passive audience than movies like Frozen and Encanto. And anyway there's a reason the film series wasn't a musical--it didn't suit the story. So I'd be surprised if it worked or was successful.

Sounds like it’s just being developed for licensing.
With that in mind, I could see the property being a big hit with schools and regional theatres.

Huh. That was not on my bingo card.
But I also think that music tends to come more naturally to a story on the stage than it does on film, so there's a chance it might still work.
Anyway, the link does say it's being converted to like a 90 minute show, which doesn't scream Broadway to me.
