I'm not trying to be political but one has to wonder how much of the heating up of Iran and USA over past 2 years play in a role in this.

I mean Aladdin had changes made from Iraq focus to something more of agglomeration of cultures due to the 1st Gulf War.

I can't imagine Disney being enthusiastic about making such a movie at this time. Just feels like wrong time and back when this movie was semi-confirmed announced was in 2019 where things were more calmish.

then add that since Fall 2024, numerous reports about it being canceled and not really working out.

saw comments on X that she might have left the studio and no longer listed as WDAS director on her website and others saying that she clashed with the leadership and that it wasn't coming together and that if it did happen it likely wouldn't be her vision. Who knows if both are true but interesting nonetheless.


if one adds both of these things, seems more likely this movie got the axe. Could have been interesting to see another Middle Eastern Tale in Disney Canon, hopefully in future we do.

I was surprised it was even in the works, because it seems like that is the same reason we have yet to get the Aladdin animated series on D+.
