Election Day 2024

Post by carolinakid »

I was just curious how many posters who are US citizens plan to vote today or perhaps voted early.
My boyfriend and I voted on October 26, the first day of early voting in our state. We are both political animals and we were so excited to cast our ballots.
We had about an hour wait in line but chatted with some wonderful fellow voters so the time actually went by quickly.
Also curious if this is anyone’s first time voting in a Presidential election...

My first time voting in a Presidential election was 1980. My boyfriend’s was 1984. We both voted for Ronald Reagan even though we had not met yet.

My first was in 2004! Reagan was president when I was born.

Me, three. I already have anxiety issues, but just reading the headlines everyday has me so anxious (I know it's not just me feeling this way). Just sitting back waiting for the $h1t show to start makes me feel so sick. We're going back into the dark ages it feels like.

Just read an article on all the horrific things Trump has signed on Day One. :(

Take care of yourselves, my American friends, whichever way your political metre sways.

Just looked this up on Wikipedia to see what it is about (sorry, I am not necessarily up to date on American politics. )

It seems OK on paper, but the end of the article does mention that it has been criticised for not requiring an actual conviction for the immigrant to be deported.

On a different note, I have noticed intense vilification of Trump supporters by Democrats or left-leaning individuals all over social media. As much as I, personally, dislike Trump and everything he stands for, and would never vote for him if I were an American citizen, I feel the attacks on his voters are uncalled for, and do not make the situation any better.

We're living through the most toxic presidency in, at least my, lifetime, as far as I'm concerned they forfeited any of our respect a long time ago. Why do they deserve civility? You have supporters doing literal nazi salutes now as our president allows a non elected billionaire run lose in our government. Where does it end?

These are not the conservatives we grew up with where you could disagree with and have a beer with later, they need to be eradicated (not physically of course).

Today 6/9/25 is the New Jersey primary. I voted early last week as I was driving by the site and it was almost empty.
