It looks like one of these Monster High 2D episodes made for YouTube when the brand was released for the first time.
The style of the characters doesn't help to much. They look like a Cartoon Network show and in my opinion it doesn't fix too much with a biblical story.
It's going to make money because the story is very popular and christian parents are going to take their children to watch it.

Technically not by WDFA, but this is still awesome. It's very refreshing to see a 2D tribute to this underrated classic. A Goofy Movie is a fave. And the "I 2 I" song is still very catchy.

Not exactly Disney related, directly, but I've just acquired a Disney style animation disc. I've wanted one since I was like 7 when I first started finding out how hand drawn animation was done. I would see these pop up in all sorts of behind the scenes videos from Disney and other studios, so even though these are largely not necessary, even if your goal is paper animation, I still wanted the old fashioned one with movable pegbars and everything. Because while I will realistically never be able to work for Disney or even in the industry, at least I can satisfy the kid in me that saw myself using one of these when I grew up. Its probably not a brand Disney has ever used, like chromacolor, but its close enough. same features, and 16 field, the size used in feature animation.

I still have punched paper coming in the mail, so I cant really animate just yet (I dont yet have a punch) but it shouild be here within the week.

That's amazing! Congrats on your purchase. I'm all for spoiling inner child and following your dreams, and this is a perfect example of doing both. And with style, I might add โ€“ your workspace looks super sleek.

Its about $100, but it comes from India, so shipping adds another 100. (I don't remember the exact numbers, I'm estimating here)
I have to imagine tariffs increased the costs, though I do not know what the prices were before this mess started.

But most people are going to need a lightbox to accompany it. I chose to go with the drafting table style lightbox, plus a small batch of punched paper, so all of that combined came in at around $500 when all is said and done. So yea, its not cheap, but its not like there's a lot of competition for these. I've been keeping an eye out for them for years. I did have an opportunity to buy one used to animate beavis and butthead, but it was a 12 field, which is standard for tv productions, but not for features. So I kept waiting.

But they have different configurations for different budgets. there's an acrylic disc, a "fancy acrylic disc" (which just means it has a black frame around the whole thing) and metal variants, which are the most expensive. But I don't plan on being hard on it, so acrylic is probably fine. in addition, all of these come in both 12 and 16 field.

Then there's lightboxes, you can get just the disc, no box. or have it on a table top version, so you can just place it on top of any desk you may have. or the drafting table one, which I went with because I just moved out on my own, meaning I have zero furniture, so I needed something with legs.

One disappointing thing is that the light does not work, I think because of faulty wiring. I'm not even sure if it came that way, or if its because I dropped it while assembling the whole thing. (it didn't include any directions/documentation, and I didn't have help, so it was very awkward) So for now, I just have an old cheap lightbox I placed underneath until I can figure out the problem. There WAS a recent article which stated Disney MIGHT bring back hand-drawn, but that was all just a rumor, and according to Tom Bancroft, currently not in the pipeline. They are doing the 2D cleanup internship, though, so that's something.

Realisitcally, though, Iger has to go, and more importantly, audiences have to prove that 2D IS viable again. The Light of the World has to succeed. The Legend of Aang The Last Airbender needs to succeed. So do others. Only then can that happen.

That rumor annoys me, because as far as I could tell, there's literally no source.

Agreed. Even Tony Bancroft admitted that there was no source.

That said, the 2D cleanup internship is still a small step.

BTW, Light of the World just issued an all new music video. It sounds like your typical pop ballad from the 90's, but it fits very well IMO.

And you're not gonna link that video? Because as far as I can tell, it doesn't debut until the 30th.

โ€œI love 2D,โ€ Bush said. โ€œRight now we have 2D artists who are doing some bonkers amazing things. Iโ€™ll leave it at that,โ€ Bush said with a wink when we asked about the format returning to the studio.
