Kingdom of Heaven

Post by Princess Leia »

I just bought this film and I really like it. The Director's Cut is awesome.(I never saw the version released in theaters, but so what?)

However, I have a question. One of the deleted scenes on the Director's Cut 4 Disc DVD features an extended scene of young Baldwin V's coronation. I've watched this scene multiple times and I still can't make out all of the oath that Baldwin V speaks.

"I swear ... Church and abide by the ancient customs of the Kings of Jerusalem as King Baldwin, my predecessor's blessed memory."

Every time I watch this, the words between "swear" and "Church" are lost. I can't make them out, and I suspect the music is responsible.

If anyone has the 4 Disc set, I would appreciate it if you could tell me what the entire oath is. This is annoying me.

Did you try the Captions on your TV? My TV has a thing that puts up Captions on DVD's with Closed Captioning. Most Hollywood studios put CC on their DVD's too. Your TV remote control should have something on it, a button that brings you to the Set-Up menu.

If that doesn't work because you have an old TV, try the subtitles button on your DVD remote.

I tried searching Google and they didn't give me a thing. You have to try subtitles / captions.

Unfortunately, the Special Features on Discs Three and Four don't have either Closed Captioning or subtitles. I already tried it and it didn't work.

Oh, that explains it - I thought it was a scene in the feature movie. If it's a deleted scene, they won't have subtitles unless they're from Paramount. Or, maybe, Universal.

If it were Anchor Bay - there's a chance they'd be subtitles.

Did you try turning the volume up louder, get really close to the speaker? That actually usually works for me. It takes about 5-10 tries, but you'll get a better idea the more you try. Maybe if you have this option, turn the bass down and treble up. My thing only has bass.
