Has anyone posted this year’s Christmas/New Year’s 2025 Company Card?

I still marvel how many of the Walt era animated classics were released at what I think were such random times.

Perhaps Sleeping Beauty might have done better at the box office it it were released at Christmas 1958 (assuming it was ready and able for release then) or held to Easter break or summer of 1959, rather than at the tail end of January going into February 1959...

And yet Cinderella was released in the middle of February 1950 and 101 Dalmatians at the end of January 1961 and performed spectacularly, so what the hell do I know?

Just things I ponder while my boyfriend is still sleeping ...

Any more news on the 4K restoration being done by that Japanese company? Just wondering because I finally got to watch Cinderella in 4K the other day and it was incredible. I went ahead and ordered the SW 4K they did after, really looking forward to how SB turns out.

I wonder what they'll do next after SB anyway. Something like B&tB and TLK or another big one from the Walt era like Bambi or Dalmatians?

So far, nothing. I would love it if they released it in 4K, imagine what a beauty (pun intended ) it would be.

Last year, there were no re-releases of any animated classics on physical media, as far as I'm aware. But since this year, marks the 70th anniversary of Disneyland's opening, there may be a chance.

I want to clarify something, the restoration was done primerly by Walt Disney Studios Restoration and Preservation team. Of course they collaborated with other technical experts but there is no official info about any Japanese company. I think that was a rumor that came from Twitter or something.

Sleeping Beauty didn't do badly. The problem is that it was way too expensive that it could never be considered a success no matter how much money it made. Like Cleopatra a few years later. I read Sleeping Beauty's whole budget was met just from the Once Upon a Dream sequence of Rose and Phillip dancing. So the movie never had a chance until re-releases but now it's one of the highest grossing movies of all time with inflation. It beats Cinderella.

Sleeping Beauty's original gross was $5,300,000, and it's total is $51,600,000.

Cinderella beat Sleeping Beauty in their original grosses and their total grosses.

Or is there something I don't know/understand?

Sleeping Beauty is the 35th highest grossing movie of all time when adjusted for inflation.

Cinderella is the 64th. It's just below the Lion King remake.

(Cleopatra, since I mentioned it before, is 46th so that means Sleeping Beauty beat it).

Sleeping Beauty sold 72,676,000 tickets while Cinderella sold 60,301,400 tickets. That $51,600,000 you said was Sleeping Beauty's total gross becomes $664,864,273 when adjusted for inflation. Cinderella's lifetime gross was $93,141,149 which becomes $551,657,308 when adjusted for inflation.

Ranking of Disney animated movies from that list of highest grossing when adjusted for inflation is this:

I had that VHS release. I remember how exciting it was each year to see which Disney animated classic was going to come out on home video. I can recall when the earliest VHS releases were close to 100 bucks each!

I guess it was a really exciting event. Seeing these posters everywhere and trailers and ads on TV must have added to the excitement over a movie's release on video.

Suncoast Pictures, Blackbuster and other retailers had the posters along with much print and TV advertising. Those days are long gone. Now I have to search Amazon to see if a new edition or upgrade is available...

I love the poster, thanks for sharing! I always wonder why they turned Aurora's gown into purple but it looks really great. The same artwork of Aurora and Phillip was used in the re release of the VHS in Spain but they made some changes on it.
