Disney 3D

Post by Jack Skellington »

Hello everyone, been a long time since I’ve posted anything here, hope you are all doing well. So for those of you who still have 3D TVs and are as frustrated as I am about major movie studios like Disney who have neglected releasing anything in 3D, there’s been some websites popping up with professionally made conversions of many classic films among them are some of your favorite Disney films and hopefully with more to come. So far there’s Lilo and Stitch (2002), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfes (1937), Aladdin (1992), and after speaking to the moderator I managed to persuade him to add Sleeping Beauty (1959), Tarzan (1999) and Cinderella (1950).
Still hoping for Pinocchio, Fantasia, Hercules among others. Obviously the only way for them to keep making this is if the demand existed, please send me a PM if you’d like to view them, I’m a bit protective of the sites, but would appreciate anyone who wants to join.

Lmao… I just realized the date, no I am serious. 😂 I use my projector to watch them but I realized most use VR headsets. I will post some pics here as proof, they released Cinderella today but it had technical issues so I asked the moderator to fix it. This is legit, not an April Fools joke. Should have waited a day maybe to post this lol. Let me just say Sleeping Beauty and Tarzan are stunning in 3D as I predicted. https://files.fm/u/cjn9wuxn9k
I just uploaded some pictures I took, obviously it’s without glasses but you can see the left and right images for Cinderella are a bit off so asked the moderator to reupload it.

So anyone with a VR headset or 3Dtv let me know if you’d like to join. :)

I've only watched trailers/clips of these, and they just dont compare to the real deal. I wish it were possible for fans to do legit looking conversions, but that doesnt seem to be the case. Some shots look passable, but it very much depends on the shot.

The ones that I’ve seen aren’t fan made, it’s actually by the same people who were hired to convert films by the studios previously, but they are doing it as a side job and it’s a one man show. It’s very decent and adds good depth to the films but don’t expect pop up effects like the ones in Philharmagic. Also It only costs $5 to watch them, but i just thought if more Disney fans joined then they can keep updating and hopefully I’ll get to see all of the films I wanted in 3D.

So far my goal is they release these films next:
Black Cauldron (1985)
Hercules (1997)
Fantasia (1940)
Pinocchio (1940)
Peter Pan (1953)
The Jungle Book (1967)
Bambi (1942)
Mulan (1998)
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
Pocahontas (1995)
Lady and the Tramp (1955)
101 Dalmatians (1961)

Since I saw Aladdin and Snow White in 3D a month ago, I asked them if they could possibly upload Sleeping Beauty and they did, they have been updating the site every Tuesday with a new Disney film, and honestly I never thought I’d see any of these films in 3D in my lifetime, so I’m grateful.

I just managed to make cover art and disk labels for the 3D films I’ve saved with more to go. Still waiting for my BD-R player to burn the disks and then add the stickers on them.

So, checking out Tarzan, and while its certainly watchable, there are little things about it that dont look as good as an official conversion would be. all the drawings/paintings depicted in the move have depth, when they should be flat. And there are some scenes where characters seem to have force fields warping around them. Anytime particles like bubbles are on screen the depth doesn't make sense, because they kind of wrap around the nearest object rather than floating freely.
