I also think that they could have done a better job with the costum design. Sandy worked for Disney before and her costumes were breathtaking and here I don't find anything as good as the ones that she made for Cinderella or Mary Poppins returns. I think that Disney didn't gave her more creative liberties. Maybe another kind of gowns would've been more attractive for the audience.
The final one has the same design except for the sleeves. They could have created something more SW's bride gowns made in the concept arts

It also has 180,000 votes, which puts it comfortably ahead of something like "Wicked" which came out four months ago and has also been made available for home viewing. That to me says that the overwhelming majority of those voters have not actually seen the movie and are just deliberately trying to skew the score. IMDb has protocol in place against that kind of thing, but apparently it's not working as well in this case.Thumper_93 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 2:32 am The movie has a 1,6/10 on IMDB. It seems that people are really boicoting the film. Let's see how the box office goes this weekend but in my opinion this is going to be one of their biggest disasters.

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I just saw a post on Instagram of Rachel in an empty theater watching the movie and being happy when seeing her name on the screen. People say she's being a narcisist, but I don't know, it made me a bit sad. I know the movie is not the greatest, but seeing her in an empty theater being so happy genuinely made me sad for her. I would just hate being in her shoes right now, with all the hate she's receiving.

A lot of the comments on her Instagram are vile and repulsive. I admit I'm not the fan of the race swapping stuff and some of her comments, but the hate is going way too far. I really feel bad for her now, she needs to get off of social media for her own well being,

Yeah, this is about where I'm at. I'm personally fine with the race-swapping, but I honestly never imagined I'd ever leap to the defense of someone who built their platform on bagging on Disney Princesses. It breaks my heart that things turned out the way they did for her. Similar to how I feel really bad for Ariana Debose for having her wish come true of voicing a Disney heroine only for that movie to belly-flop. I hope she gets to a place where she's personally at peace with the whole thing.Vlad wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 2:15 pm I just saw a post on Instagram of Rachel in an empty theater watching the movie and being happy when seeing her name on the screen. And yeah, that girl needs to drop her social media for a moment and spend a week in Hawaii or something.
Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I used to have sympathy for her in the past. No more.
I hope all of you feel the same for Kristin Chenoweth and others who are being attacked by her army of fans.
I don't condone the attacks on her appearance but Gal Gadot also had to endure attacks and Rachel was egging her fans on to continue with that. She should apologize to Gadot but we know she would never do that. Why should I have sympathy for someone like that?

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
You'll have to fill me in on how K-Chen got roped into this. This is literally the first I've heard of her being part of this conversation.
As for Gadot, all I really know about that is what was reported from that Variety article. The one that said they were just so mad at each other that they sat two entire rows apart during the premiere, and also had some other fishy material that drew some question marks from me.
I get a lot of my social media news secondhand, so I definitely could have missed something. I've personally observed a lot more antagonism toward Zegler than Gadot, so that's where my attention is naturally going to go first, but a person can also feel sympathetic toward more than one party.

Rachel's fans started attacking Jonah Platt (and even Ben Platt even though he hasn't said anything) and started saying that he's a terrible actor and singer. Kristin Chenoweth defended him saying "Jonah is a very talented singer and actor" and now you can see the cesspool that is the comments to her tweets and Instagram posts:

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
Why don’t those who haven’t seen it and even those who have actually go and check out the movie again so you can have a much better mindset towards her overall? May actually make things better, if only for yourself, again to have a much better mindset towards her, gal instead of just being on the outside looking in if you know what I mean?
Also if anyone wouldn’t mind, I’d like to know why exactly everybody hates Rachel and Gal so much, what did they specifically say or do that’s causing all of this outrage?

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I don't hate either one. I've seen the movie, and I went in with no expectations. The only good thing I have to say about Rachel is that she has a beautiful singing voice. However, I don't think that she was the best choice to play the part of Snow White. She doesn't have that gentle look on her face, and she doesn't exactly embody everything about her character. There is the scene in the movie after her flight through the forest, where all the animals gather around her and lead her to the Dwarfs' cottage. In the animation, they had a reason to trust her and to want to help her - because she helped the little bluebird earlier to find its parents, and because they sensed her kindness. Here, there was no dialogue...just an awkward moment with her looking at the animals and then, they just lead her to the cottage. That moment was one that helped the audience love her and her personality.
There was also that moment with her and the huntsman, when he got ready to kill her. There was no suspense, there was no sense of danger. And her reaction when he pointed his knife towards her was so underwhelming. In the animation, she was genuinely terrified. Meanwhile, here, she had a surprised look on her face while saying "Why?" These are small details that really make the scene more intense and scary.
I was also very disappointed they removed that beautiful moment of her saying her prayers before bedtime. It was a brief moment, but again, it helps the audience fall in love with her more.
After she bites the apple, and the dwarfs are gathered around her crying, I felt nothing. In the animation, it was such a sad moment, because she had a lot of scenes with the dwarfs, where their relationship advanced more and more. Here, all their interactions were quick and involved other characters as well.
The main problem I have with the remake is that they completely changed the story. It's like they don't understand its point and its characters.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful thoughts, Vlad! You are spot on in compiling some of the many reasons why 1937 Snow White is such a beloved and timeless character.
2025 SW won’t even be remembered in a month except as the foulest flop of all.

I brushed through some of those comments. They're real nasty, for sure.Farerb wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 2:15 am Rachel's fans started attacking Jonah Platt (and even Ben Platt even though he hasn't said anything) and started saying that he's a terrible actor and singer. I do still have some reservations about assigning that blame to Zegler herself, though. Like, you can't always be responsible for how your fans are going to behave. With everything she's wading through right now, I'm also not sure she's totally in a position to be baby-sitting her Instagram flock.
I'm not going to imagine I have special insight into her character or anything. I'm just generally hesitant to dogpile people in the public eye knowing how there are gators in the water who thrive off of controversy and want to make it sound like a celebrity really is that rotten and really does deserve all the stink. The internet was here like six months ago with Blake Lively, who everyone agreed was just a nasty human being who needed to be put in her place, only for it to come out later that there were deliberate machinations to turn the public against her for very specific reasons. I'm not in a position to speculate exactly how comparable the situations are here, but the common thread for me is just being skeptical about twitter rage.
Zegler's the one I've personally seen targeted the most, so that's the person I feel most ready to speak up for, but my standing position is just for humans to be nice to other humans. That goes for Gadot, Chenoweth, Platt, etc.
Vlad, I actually had many of the same observations about the episode with The Huntsman and the Forest Animals

Oh, I don't think I aired it on this forum. I'm just saying I had personally latched onto the same things when I saw the film.

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I loved the scene of her biting the apple, personally. It is very different than the original--it's the best scene in the original film, too, definitely--since SW never knows it's the Queen in the original. Likewise, the Huntsman scene is less dramatic, but it gives SW a little more awareness. She recognizes the Huntsman's acting strange and this follows her having spoken to the Queen (assuming for the first time in years actually talking to her beyond niceties), so she's not really surprised.
I agree, the funeral's not nearly as good in part because it's not the ending, but it did still make me tear up. Particularly the part where they had one of the animals cling to her dress when the Dwarfs find her.

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
one interesting thing about the remake is that they gave the "not a prince" the plotline of Prince Phillip being captured by Maleficent (Evil Queen) and then gets free to save Aurora (Snow White). The truth is that Walt wanted to do it originally in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs but it was dropped because of limitations. It was later revived for Sleeping Beauty.
