Re: Disney Store Exculsive 17" Princess Dolls
I also noticed the trend of recent anniversary dolls being based on concept art (although, why wasn’t Ariel’s??) and was wondering if Cindy’s was as well. Good job for uncovering it!
I wish I had bought the BATB set. I wanted it when it came out but I didn’t collect LEs then. I distinctly remember seeing it in stock on the website…

Thank you, and I am glad you see the concept art references, too!
I am sorry you didn't get the 30th Beauty and the Beast set. I am not a fan of that one, myself. I think the Platinum set is amazingly gorgeous though. But I feel like Belle could have had her three-layered neckline like in the film, instead of just one layer of fabric in that set. Even 75th Cindy's puff sleeves have what looks like a two-layer look! Two layers for Belle would be better than one at least!

Yes. I'm sure that they get inspiration in concept arts. The Alice in Wonderland doll released a few years ago also had inspiration in one concept by Mary Blair. I've been trying to find the artwork but I don't see it right now. It was a complete copy of the artwork with the black bodice included.

Looking at the Cinderella concept art again, I wish they’d kept those long droopy sleeves for the doll (what would you call that actually?).

I did not know Alice had a doll based on concept art!
I am not a fan of the droopy sleeves for a 19th century ballgown, but I don't mind the 75th doll having long sleeves just to call back to an original film's piece of art. I also do not know what the droopy style is called.

I've been trying to find the concept art of Alice but I don't find it and it's not in any of the books that I have. The design was almost the same even the apron.Disney Duster wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 10:23 pm I did not know Alice had a doll based on concept art!

About Cinderella I alwais imagined her gown as something between the beginning of the XIX centruy and the end of this era. The voluminous skirt reminds me to the gowns designed for Worth by the time:
The bodice reminds me to the style that was used some decades ago. Even de overskirt reminds me to this period

Here you can see that even this kind of necklace that Cinderella has was quite popular then
In Gilded Age you can see some things that are on Cinderella's design. The TV show is inspired in this century and it's really amazing. One of my favourite TV shows.

Cinderella's ballgown in the 1950 film is based on styles ranging from 1860 to 1880. The wide skirt is from 1860 and the sleeves, bustle, hair and choker are from 1880.

XIX century as I said. It's a mix of the different styles that were popular by this time. Skirts were bigger at the beginning of the century and they turned more stylized some decades later. Cinderella skirt looks more voluminous like the ones used in early days from XIX century. As I said the overskirt and the bodice are from the last decades. It is a mix of different concepts. They even were inspired by the fashion from the time when the movie was made. Shapes like Cinderella’s ballgown were popular during the 40s.Disney Duster wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 2:06 pm Cinderella's ballgown in the 1950 film is based on styles ranging from 1860 to 1880. Yes, you are right about all that, Thumper! Cinderella's modern influence was from the New Look that I thought began in 1950, but maybe it was in the very late 1940s.

They released today by mistake the blue fairy doll. It's sold out…

I was going to say… mayhem in the Disney LE doll community as the Blue Fairy drops a day early and sells out.
I actually managed to snag her at 4am this morning, but I’m not optimistic that my order will remain uncanceled. I think they should only cancel the orders of people who bought more than 2 dolls.

I saw this on Reddit! I was going to warn you guys here, but it said it was sold out before I could say anything. I am so glad you managed to get an order, Brelly! I hope you are lucky enough to receive the doll!

Some people say that is not going to be released in Europe. It's weird because it's going to be sold even in Australia…

Thanks, Duster! I received a shipping notice yesterday and the money’s been taken out of my account so now I’m pretty optimistic I’ll actually get my doll.
Has this ever happened before, Thumper_93? Obviously besides D23 exclusives or the Jane that Disneyland-exclusive? It seems really weird to me because the Blue Fairy is such a legacy character, I’m sure she’s popular all over the world (especially in Europe, considering the story’s origins).Thumper_93 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 11:06 pm Some people say that is not going to be released in Europe. No. This is the first time and it doesn't have any sense considering that the doll has been released in Australia and Singapore. Ignoring european costumers would be a great mistake.UmbrellaFish wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 4:47 am Thanks, Duster! Re: Disney Store Exculsive 17" Princess Dolls
I just got a text message from Disney Store saying the Blue Fairy doll is out. I clicked the link (I just wanted to look at her; I'm poor), and I was 2207 in the queue. I left right away, but that's a lot of people!
