Platinum Editions Info Needed!

Post by Lucylover1986 »

Hi. I love collecting the Platinum Editions of the Disney movies but I'm so confused with all these new Disney movies coming out. Can someone post the release dates for the platinum editions please so I know which ones are going to be released as a platinum edition instead of just a special edition.

Welcome to the forum, lucylover.

Questions about the <a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/releasety ... ">Platinum Editions</a> are <a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/FAQ.htm">frequently asked</a>, as they are probably the most popular line Disney uses to release their <a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/ultimatec ... ">animated classics</a>.

As you now should know, those links on top and bottom of the forum, and the main www.UltimateDisney.com page and its various sections offer lots of information that's well worth going through. You'll find your answer and a whole lot more there.

That said, the line between "Special Edition" and "Platinum Edition" is somewhat blurred these days. While Disney hasn't at all abandoned the line, it doesn't carry as much meaning as it once did, in light of the very good "Special Editions" the studio has released and will be releasing.

This should help you out: http://www.ultimatedisney.com/releasetypes.htm

Note, though, that the dates with "probable" are simply predictions (though very likely ones), and no one's really sure in what order the newly added Platinums (Pinocchio, Fantasia, Peter Pan, and Sleeping Beauty) will be released.

Thanks! It's really hard to figure out what to buy. Right now I'm only buying the platinum editions. It's good I didn't buy the Sleeping Beauty or Pinochio special editions since Disney says it's coming towards the end of the decade as a platinum edition.

Well, I seriously don't know what they could probably add to the already released Sleeping Beauty S.E.

The Dvd has lots of extras, a restored vieo image and a nice platinum like quality packaging.

The only way I can see it improved is by making a new commentary and a so much better use of the 5.1 sound. Other that that it beats me.

Anyways, since I already have SB and I'm not a big fan of it I won't be buying it again.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I just updated the Animated Classics Countdown pages with the most accurate DVD information that we now have. All of those should be correct now.
