Saw the recorded version today. I wanted to see this adaptation so much. I even had the tickets to watch it live in London but suddenly the COVID came and my trip was cancelled.
After so many years I deceided to watch it and honestly thansk to the lord that I didn't watch it live. It's awful! I can't explain how they made this awful adaptation when they had this wonderful movie full of soul and magic.
The songs from the movie are not so well adaptated as I expected. Some of them has been changed and not for good. The new ones are not memorable and they don't have the same style than the songs used from the animated movie so you can't feel any harmony on the soundtrack.
The characters are not well developed. Only Ramse's Mother and wife are great. The rest of them are not so good as in the animated film. Mose's put so much effort on the rol but I couldn't empathize with him.
The costumes are the worst part of the show. Nothing from them remind you to Egipt. All the characters looks from an urban tribe from 2002. Some of the accesories looks like these cheaps golden things that some ethnic halloween costumes bring as accesories. There are no similarity between costumes, all of them look like from different universe and that's a big problem because it takes you out of the history context.
Visual efects are made by dancers. Some scenes are ok but others look terrible. The scene when god speaks with Moses is horrible. In my opinion this scene is the best one in the movie but here is like another scene more. It doesn't have this magic that the one in the movie has. The dancers are the tree and they sing another version of deliver us so it lost all the spiritual thing that it has in the movie.
All the production looks really cheap. They used so many screens during the show.
