The "E" in the new Elio logo is in the same font as the "E" in Wall-E. Is that intentional? Is there supposed to be a connection between the two films?

Yeah, I’ve noticed people on Twitter say that too. I don’t think it’s intentional nor do I feel there will be a connection between the two films. I think this might be to give the film a more of a… more epic adventure.

Well, it's not the exact same font, the "e" in Elio is slightly narrower and rounder, but it's true that it's very similar. I wonder why they changed the logo. I preferred the previous one. I wonder if this reveal means we're getting a new trailer this weekend for D23 Brazil. Grace Randolph said at least two new trailers will drop there, so this could be one of them, though perhaps it's the same one from the US D23 that leaked.

Pixar’s next theatrical release is an original film, Elio, and Jonas Rivera joined the audience for the world premiere of the new trailer, which he hadn’t seen yet. The trailer was dubbed in Portuguese and was set to “Such Great Heights” by The Postal Service. Compared to the previous teaser trailer, the aliens Elio encountered seemed a lot less organized and more laid back. One scene showed him lounging with them on hover chairs drinking a purple confection that looked like boba tea.

I hope so. Here's a more detailed description of the one shown at D23 Brazil. The person who shared it says it was 12 minutes long, but I believe that might be a mistake because otherwise I think other reporters would've mentioned it.

Also, Jonas Rivera, who represented Pixar at the event, talked about the film's innovative sound design in an interview and revealed the film will have songs:

Pixar producer Jonas Rivera has given spoilers for the soundtrack of “Elio”, the new Pixar animation coming to theaters in 2025. In an interview with CNN, Rivera said that the sound design of the movie will sound in a way that the studio has never done before.

In his speech, the producer mentions what they were aiming for with the visuals of the film and how they will be intertwined with the sound of the plot. “First, I'll start with the visuals. We wanted to do something we've never seen before in space and with aliens,” he explains.

“So the colors and the design feel completely new and fresh, and sonically we wanted to do the same with the music and the songs. And even the sound design, there are sounds and voices that sound in a way we've never done before. So I think the answer is surprise. We want you to feel new and surprised,” he said.

My thanks to Bob Iger for getting my message in my video last night to FINALLY market #Elio again, if he saw it that is. Now let’s make sure he brings back long-form, fully 2D/hand-drawn animated projects at Walt Disney Animation Studios, starting with turning #Tiana’s #DisneyPlus series from a #Paperman-style animated series into a fully hand-drawn animated theatrical sequel to #ThePrincessAndTheFrog for Holiday 2029, if #Moana2 makes the money its projected to make after going from a sequel series on #DisneyPlus to being turned into a theatrical sequel.

Yeah, the fact that they kept the "Uh-Earth" gag but introduced it in an entirely new scene gives away that they've reworked this film pretty significantly.

But thus far I see no indication that this made for a worser product. There is hope still.
