Today is the final drop for my first
Into the Woods dream production: Snow White.
This Snow White is based on Mackenzie Foy. Like my Sleeping Beauty, she is supposed to evoke the Disney animated version of her fairy tale, with her hair, collar, sleeves, and the blue and red. These princesses have to be recognizable for the quick moment they are in! But her hairstyle comes from Belle's final look in Disney's 2017
Beauty and the Beast, which was set in the 18th century, while the rest of this costume is very 16th century...although it was based on an 18th century costume. That must be confusing, ha! Ok, basically I found an 18th century painting with a costume that was probably supposed to be for a play set in the 16th century or something. The blue represents sky-reflecting snow like her skin, and the shades of red represent the color of her lips, and apples. There is even an apple heart with a bite out if it in her apron. Also, I wanted shades of blue and red to match Sleeping Beauty's shades of blue and pink, and they all go with the Princes' bluish purple colors, and they end up with those princes!
Edit: Here is the Fragonard 18th century painting I used as a reference!:
"Ahh, 'scuse me!"
Now that my Into the Woods dream project has been shared, I'd like to say thank you for everyone who shared in this journey, and commented and everything. Also, some day in the way, way distant future, I may make an "Into the Woods Ultimate Version" where all the fairy tale sections are different eras, instead of like they all live in the 18th century. So many more characters would get more costume changes, too. But I don't know when or if it would happen. It's just a dream right now, and before I ever do those (other than my little doodles for now), comes...
Next up on the horizon: Disney Princess movie posters of Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, and Rapunzel (that's what I'm calling it!!!).
And a possible sneak peek at a title page icon for my Cinderella comic that gives just a very small idea of what it might look like.
