Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I rather like the poster. It may be a nod to the one '90s Snow White (1937) poster I had where the Queen's cape held Snow and the castle.

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
Why did they make it look like they gave the queen spider legs?

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
The arching black cape creating a sort of black M just doesn’t work. Very unappealing design, the original elements would work better if they were to be rearranged. Very very very unappealing design aesthetic! And that is coming from someone who does this stuff for a living…

Do they have any problem with Snow's bow? She wears it in the trailer for a few second but I haven't seen it again. It's one of the most iconic thing that the character has.

Am I crazy, or is Andrew Burnap's character not anywhere on the poster?
Like, I can imagine them not putting him front and center, but are they really that desperate to cut any ties Snow White may have to a man?

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I liked the trailer. It made me excited for the movie. I think I am going to love "Waiting on a Wish".

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
It seems that they have taken more inspiration from Once Upon a Time with that "taking back the kingdom" storyline. Seems like the Queen also takes after Regina rather than the original character.

It looks really great. The gown looks better in this trailer and the hairstyle too. Can't wait to see it in the big screen.

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
Well, to give my thoughts: I liked it, despite how the part of the forest were superior and more enchanting than the parts of the village. I liked the design of castle and the village, but the interior of the castle was lackluster. Rachel looked too young at in the scenes at the beginning. The dwarfs looked uncanny and frankly looked like their faces were too huge for their bodies. The small parts of them peaking through their eyes was too cartoony.
Gal Gadot actually showed a cunning and seductive charm (despite how her hood doesn`t compliment her at all). The magic mirror looked the one from Shrek. The new song was fine, but not particularly memorable and too autotuned. The ride through the ride looked good, though. The hag looked disappointingly lackluster. But otherwise it was a good trailer and I`m actually looking forward to this movie, regardless of the stigma of these live action remakes.

I didn't care for the song, I thought it sounded like a generic princess pop ballad. Definitely not comparable to the iconic songs of the original.
Doesn't it make anyone sad that this might be Disney's last fairytale film?!?

I am glad you are looking forward to this, Thumper! The costumes do look better in the trailer!
Good thoughts! I agree with so much!DisneyFan09 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 6:52 amWell, to give my thoughts: I liked it, despite how the part of the forest were superior and more enchatning than the parts of the village. I love the song, but that last sentiment - that would be the saddest thing ever!

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I seem to remember some comment from Gadot and Zegler about how this Evil Queen would get to be layered and multi-faceted and not just a straight-up bad guy, something to that effect. Well, I guess we're going to have to wait and see for that because the Queen in this trailer feels too overthetop for me. I'll give Gadot credit and say that she seems totally committed to what she's doing, but none of the Disney villains felt this cartoonish when they were literally drawn in two-dimensions. It's the kind of performance I associate with a lot of those celebrity live-performance specials where you get a bunch of famous names to frolic around in Disney garb.
That's also how I feel watching Zegler when Snow White is singing, but I like her just fine when she's just straight acting. I'll have to wait and see if/how she blends that together.
That bit with Snow White throwing herself in front of the queen telling her that "What this kingdom needs is a little ... K I N D N E S S" feels a little forced, like a poor replay of Cinderella's "Have courage, and be kind" mantra. I can imagine that this is foretelling how the film's messaging is going to play out.
I think the animals look really cute, but I'd agree that the dwarfs look a little waxy.
I really like Pasek & Paul, and even through the mess of this movie's production, I've been excited to hear their music, but that brief sample of "Waiting on a Wish" sounds kind of middling for me.
When fans say they want the remakes to honor the animated film, Disney seems to think we want literal replication of the visuals from the animated text. And so instead of giving a thoughtful paraphrase of the original narrative, they just translate the exact costumes and shove in a bunch of visual gags (like Dopey's diamond eyes), and congratulate themselves on their intricate understanding of Disney mythology.
I've been on this merry-go-round before. I don't think there will be any surprises for me.
