Gargoyles Season 2 Volume 2 are now on The Disney Store's website. This is very significant because people outside the USA can order from http://www.disneystore.com not to mention people who aren't a part of the Disney Movie Club

Are there any more former DMC exclusive Disney Afternoon titles at the Disney Store.

Actually it's being reported that Gargoyles won't ship outside the USA through the Disney Store if you read the fine print, but the fine print isn't on Talespin Volume 3....Here's the quote from the campaign The Disney Afternoon Forever's Facebook page.

UPDATE 8/27/13 from our earlier DisneyStore.com story: Apparently we have been receiving word from fans that international shipping for the Disney Store online is NOT an option for DVD's. Upon further discovery, we found this on the description for Gargoyles: Season 2, Volume 2:

Express shipping not available for this item. This item cannot be shipped internationally or outside the contiguous United States. It can only be shipped to a physical address, not to a P.O. Box, APO or FPO address. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.

However, that message is not found on the listing for TaleSpin: Volume 3. Further, it was an Open Vault Disney member from France who first pointed this story out to us after purchasing a copy of TaleSpin: Volume 3 from the Disney Store online. It would make sense that from an official source anyway, none of these titles would be available outside of the US and maybe Canada as they are DVD Region 1 sets and officially meant only for play in those countries. However, it is odd that a fan in France was able to order TaleSpin: Volume 3 and there is nothing on the listing saying it doesn’t ship internationally.

So for now, international reader be warned, you may not have a legal (and cheaper) way to pick at least Gargoyles: Season 2, Volume 2 on DVD after all. Still, for definitely US fans, there is now one more way to pick these titles up. If an international reader does try to order the Gargoyles title, please let us know about your experience so we can share it with others.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have had on any of our readers. Clearly the fight for these titles internationally needs to still be fought!

Next they should do the last season of Ducktales and Rescue Rangers while they are at it.

I think it would be cool to see a Spider-Man/Gargoyles crossover comic since Disney owns both Marvel and Gargoyles. I think it's logical since the heroes live in New York and all that, the story would have Xanatos doing a deal with Kingpin to get rid of the gargoyles that are in the city making them look like enemies and Spider-man hunts down the Gargoyles as later it becomes a misunderstanding as Spider-Man has been tricked thinking they are the enemies when the real ones are Xanatos and Kingpin.

Perhaps the Gargoyles need a comeback in Kingdom Hearts 3 as it should have Sora, Donald and Goofy teaming up with Goliath voiced by Keith David and you can use Broadway or Bronx as a summon with the enemies being Xanatos, Demona and the Heartless.

I just started watching this on Disney+ (currently on episode 9) and wow. I'm really liking it so far and I'm kind of flabbergasted that this kind of somber, complex and serialized writing was done at Disney at that time. It seems so... un-Disney, lol. I have a hard time imagining a show like this being made today by any studio.

Anyway, great show, looking forward to watching it until the end, even the supposedly controversial (non-canon?) third season. I also read that Bruce Timm wasn't a fan and had some choice words for the show. Kind of surprising (was he threatened by the show?) and unprofessional.

Glad you are enjoying the series! I moan about streaming services, but I’m glad Disney+ has introduced Gargoyles to so many new fans. Disney has started to pay the franchise some attention— last year I was so surprised to find a Gargoyles pin at WDW but there is so much Gargoyles merchandise now… action figures, plushies, board games. It used to be a trickle, it used to be nothing, and now I can’t keep up. There’s even a new comic book series by creator Greg Weisman. I haven’t bought any of those yet, but I need to!

Greg Weisman and most fans don’t consider the third season canon (I don’t either!). The comic books (the original Slave Labor which came out 06-08, I think, and the new run) are considered canon. Please let us know what you think of the show as you watch it! The series is so rich, the characters and storytelling are among the best in the Disney canon. Elisa Maza is a real kickass Disney heroine and Demona should be remembered as one of Disney’s greatest villains. I would love to see Disney reboot the series on television or film one day.

There's a lot of shows, both old and new, that I've either never watched or watched ages ago, and Disney+ makes it very convenient to get (re)acquainted with them, Gargoyles being a prime example. It's a true mark of quality when something made almost 30 years ago still feels fresh and relevant today, and I don't feel like I'm being talked down or pandered to. I see why the show still has a massive following.

I'll let you know my impressions as I go further along with the show, but probably not on an episode-by-episode basis though, lol. I'm still processing episode 8 (That accidental gunshot! On-screen blood! In a ~kids'~ show!). I do have one minor complaint though -- I'm not feeling the intro at all and I just skip it! I feel a more energetic theme and opening credits that don't reuse clips from episodes would work wonders; it's kind of dull and boring as it is. Do the credits change later on?

With Disney being remake-happy these days, and the general superhero craze, you'd think they'd jump right on it. Love that you're enjoying the series. It's a gem in the Disney library, and so ahead of its time.

The intro eventually introduces a monologue by Goliath that plays over the sequence, but the montage itself changes very little.

I'm not really one for reboots or anything, but I'd love to see Disney promote this series more so it gets more coverage.

Like PatchofBlue said, a monologue is placed over the opening theme, I think beginning in season two. It’s one of my favorite aspects of the show actually! And probably one of the most memorable parts of the show, too, so I am curious to hear your thoughts when you hear it. Keith David’s vocal performance is very powerful. When I rewatch the series, I always forget and am taken aback when the first season doesn’t include the monologue.

I bet you already know this but Greg Weisman has said that a reprint of the SLC run is very much on the table. I hope it happens, too, I had all the original single issues but they got lost in a move. :/

Dynamite Comics, publisher of the newest run of Gargoyles comics, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to rerelease the 90’s Marvel comics and mid 2000’s SLG comics (including spin-off Bad Guys).

I had all the single issues of the SLG run but they got lost in a move. I’ve been waiting for the old run to be reprinted before I bought the new titles as we were promised this was coming when the Dynamite series was announced.

I'll try to contribute. Like I mentioned, I never had a chance to read past the second issue of the first SLG series or the first of Bad Guys, and I've read none of the Marvel comics. I considered buying the reprint of the first Marvel issue they did, but decided to hold off for the trade they promised instead.

They have already blown way past the $50,000 goal. I do not have any moola at the moment to contribute, but hopefully I’ll be able to before the kickstarter ends. I think this is just a preorder though? So you don’t necessarily miss out if you don’t contribute now? I hope so, at least!

I was really surprised to see they were reprinting the Marvel run since AFAIK they are not canon. But I bet those comics were particularly easy to republish now that Disney owns Marvel. I have not been as enmeshed in the fandom as I once was, but I think the SLG comic is considered the canon 3rd season and I assumed the Dynamite run is the canon 4th season (or season 3 part 2, idk).

It is really heartening to see Gargoyles gather such a large cult following in the past few years. I criticize Disney+ often, but I think the show’s availability on the streaming service has done wonders for reminding audiences of its appeal and introducing it to new eyeballs, too.

I've really liked seeing the show blow up on Disney+, as well! And it makes sense, the show is basically a precursor to the story-heavy cartoons that Disney has been famous for making over the past few years, like Gravity Falls, Amphibia, Owl House, etc. I'd like to think that younger fans are catching onto this, but I also see older people who vaguely remember or possibly even missed the show watch it now as well.

It’s Goliath as a Pop-Tart!!! I ordered one on eBay last night, waiting it to show up in the mail. It’s supposed to smell like berries, and it even has his little wings in the back!

Still waiting on more details about the Kickstarter. They haven’t even asked for shipping info and originally they said the books would be ready in July.

Yeah, I never buy the blind boxes which is why I went to eBay for Goliath. It kinda amazes me that that there’s so much Gargoyles merch now. It was a desert for years and now there’s so much! You mean, a person can walk into Disney World/Disneyland and buy a berry scented, Pop-tart shaped version of a Gargoyles character?? Two years ago, I found a Goliath pin in Animal Kingdom, I think, and that was a thrill! Gargoyles was just buried for about 20 years.

I thought Dynamite would be better about production delays than SLG (when they did the comics) but it seems they’re about the same. I don’t read comics besides Gargoyles, so I don’t know how common this is in the industry. I don’t mind too much— as long as they continue publishing Gargoyles.
