I would prefer unused recordings, too, but eh... I don't think A.I. would bother me as long as it adds on to archive recordings rather than all the dialogue being A.I. I dunno, either way it would be good for his family, I guess.

Yea, ai has gotten so good, they could totally pull off a spot on sound alike using it and we wouldn't be able to tell. But if the family isnt cool with it, it's not gonna happen then.
I'm not so sure about this. Stanton's storytelling sensibilities don't seem like a natural fit with the Toy Story brand. But maybe he'll do fine with it. At least, this project was given to a seasoned veteran instead of a newbie. Still, I'd rather he focused on the inevitable Finding Nemo 3 than Toy Story.
Regardless of who directs, I think this is gonna be another all hand on deck situation, all the vets still there should get a say, because this franchise is their baby. I think they know on some level they fumbled the 4th one at least a little bit and will want to make sure things are going in the right direction.
Ok. So now that we know that Andrew Stanton is going to write and direct it, I feel like I have an idea on what Toy Story 5 (which I really hope is the final chapter this time) will be about, based on my observations made of the Toy Story saga as a whole and what may happen this time:
Basically, I think what will happen is that, after the company who made toys of him thinks that they made the wrong choice not to use the same voice of the character in his own movie, we will see Buzz Lightyear and every other version of him from Toy Story 2 get recalled for being “fixed” with replacing his voice with that of the man who actually voiced/played him in his movie, forcing the toys to reunite with Woody and Bo Peep and make the risky choice of having to reveal themselves as living, taking, sentient toys to an adult Andy and his kids to seek his help in venturing out to Taiwan to save Buzz and his variant models before it’s too late.
Basically, a film that is a meta apology for making Lightyear and one that also settles the whole “why does Buzz in Lightyear not sound like Tim Allen debate,” but one that has heart and a message of having to protect the legacy of the friend you love no matter the cost. Basically one last mission with the toys together to save Buzz Lightyear in a way that apologizes for Lightyear. And the interesting thing is that this potential idea could be a way of doing a repurposed version of the original plan for Toy Story 3 when Circle 7 was gonna make that film without Pixar, only now, Pixar gets to make it their way and not Michael Eisner’s way.

To put this as nicely as I can...that's the most fanficy slop of a theory I've read in a while. It's not gonna be even close to that.
Well if you think that’s not good enough, what else can they do for a fifth Toy Story movie that hasn’t been done yet?
Rescue Wheezy? Deal with the return of an old enemy like Al or Sid and try to stop them and their revenge plot?
There’s like nothing else I can think of beyond those 2-3 ideas.
I keep seeing people speculate that Andy will come back to play in Toy Story 5. Maybe he's married and has a kid or two and comes to visit his mom and stops at Bonnie's, who's getting older and doesn't really play with her toys anymore. He wants them back for his kid, or at least Woody, but can't find him, and now the toys are on the search to reunite with Woody, wherever he is.

I would really like this one. Besides it being the best idea I've heard so far, Andy having the toys back would be the only thing that would tempt Woody and Bo Peep to return to the others, too, so I think it's likely they might actually use this in future.

So I see that Bo Peep is absent, will we have to wonder again what happened to her or will Woody show up back in Bonnie's room saying "it didn't work out" and that will be the end of it?

I noticed that, too. I enjoyed Annie Potts returning in a larger role last time, so I’d be sad to lose her again.
I suspect based on the concept art and the teaser including Jessie that she’ll have more focus this time around, instead. I like Jessie, too.
