Thank you for the link, Sotiris!! As someone with an anxiety disorder, I am really interested in seeing Anxiety play out in this film. I'm seeing it on Friday; is anyone else planning on seeing the film this week?

I’ll wait for the DVD. That’s my usual pattern over the last 20+ years.

The last first run Disney film I saw in a theater was Fantasia 2000.

I do want to see this one in theaters— probably not this weekend, but I’m off on Juneteenth so maybe then? I haven’t watched/read the Little Golden Book, but I’m hoping the movie has some surprises that aren’t in the book. I will be disappointed if it’s another sequel rehash of the original film.

Something I really enjoy about the original film is the voice work of Amy Poehler and Phyllis Smith so I’m very glad they are both returning. Funny enough, I’ve never watched The Office but I like watching clips on YouTube of Phyllis in that show!

Inside Out 2 has surpassed Inside Out in advance ticket sales on Fandango. The animated sequel is also the highest Pixar ticket pre-seller since Toy Story 4.

I expect it to open only to $100M and nothin’ else beyond that number.

I'm going to a preview screening tonight, thanks to D23. I'll see if I can share my thoughts later!

I saw an early screening today and absolutely loved it. A worthy sequel that expands the universe: witty, funny, fast paced, more layered and thematically complex than the original, and the animation is absolutely stunning.

I thought Bloofy was a fun character, although his animation is a little choppy- which to be fair, I think is by design. The real star of the show is Pouchy.

I had a lot of fun with Inside Out 2, myself. It's a worthwhile sequel to the first film, which was probably the last Pixar film I truly loved (I liked Luca, Turning Red and Elemental a good bit, but those were 7-8's vs Inside Out being a 9-10) and it has a logical expansion on the themes of the first film.

It's worth noting that Anger, Fear and Disgust have expanded roles this time as they go on Joy's adventure instead of Sadness this time, who gets the film's B or C plot away from everyone. I like getting to spend more time with the others, although it becomes very apparent that Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling were replaced before long. I think Disgust's VA is fine, but IMO Tony Hale is a downgrade.

I'm looking forward to seeing if the Lance Slashblade character has more action than in just the preview clip they released during Summer Games Fest.

It simply cracked me up to see Disgust make googly eyes at Lance. And having been a fan of YouTuber Yong Yea (Lance Slashblade's voice actor) for almost a decade by this point, I hope to hear more out of him.

I saw the film this afternoon. I really enjoyed it. I cried when Riley was having a panic attack. I loved in that same part of the film when all of the emotions came together to help Riley out of the panic attack and back to "normal". Only once was I taken out of the film watching experience due to Disgust sounding different; otherwise I just accepted the voice changes of Fear and Disgust. I liked all of the new emotions and was happy with the roles of the original emotions. I think it's a strong film and I had a great time watching it.

This is clearing up at the Box Office and will easily pass a billion. Finally a lifeline for cinema.

Unfortunately I have to wait for another month, but still very excited for this.

In my opinion, I think that this sequel will be regarded the same way as Finding Dory, Incredibles 2 and Toy Story 4. A film that receives great reception in its first few months only for people to retroactively not care about it and label it as redundant. I predict Moana 2 will be the same.

Not that I disliked the film or anything I thought it was okay, but got a little bored in the middle because of how repetitive it was.

My issues with it are similar to my issues with the original, mainly that Riley is basically the most bland H̶u̶m̶a̶n̶ b̶e̶i̶n̶g̶ robot controlled by little people and marshmallows inside her head (we see Joy cry at one point, does she also have little emotions running around inside her brain?), and once again Pixar cannot let a fantasy setting be a fantasy setting and has to insert bureaucracy all the time (they have a thing for permits).

My friend wondered the same thing when the movie ended. I said, "Inside Out 3!" (Meaning we feel they'll probably make another one; that could be the plot!)

Minor spoilers for the film, but it talks a little about the technical side (for IO2 and also "Win or Lose"):
