An ultra rare Japanese VHS of Cars?

Post by Thomallister1291 »

Hello, I'm a huge of Disney and home media and this is my first post in this forum, so I'll try to learn the rules and be a positive contributor.

Onto the main topic, y'all must know that Cars was the last Disney VHS release here in America, as a DMC exclusive, and that tape is so infamously rare that it can reach prices of up to 10000 dollars, but it did get a normal release in various territories like Poland and South Korea (I do happen to own a Korean VHS of the film)

However, one of the most intriguing ones is a Japanese release that was released the same day as the DVD in that country (November 8th, 2006), and is so rare that barely any copies have popped up for a long time.

So far I recall 4 listings of it:
1. One on eBay that costed 105 dollars and was factory sealed.
2. A mercari (Japan) listing that had a very destroyed case and costed just 600 yen.
3. A Yahoo Auctions listing that apparently appeared twice.
4. Another Yahoo Auctions listing that ended today.

This is how the tape itself looks like

I've tried finding the tape for quite a long while now, since there's no actual full rip of it on the internet and the two openings that have been recorded out of it are recorded with an external device (aka camera), I wasn't able to bid on the copy that appeared a few days ago as my parents are restrictive and I had just purchased a Blu-ray, meaning I have to wait another long while for me to be able to purchase something again.

And for those wondering, the tape doesn't have the One Man Band short.

If someone wants to help me get this tape, it will be appreciated, I can either trade my Korean copy for this one or pay between 5000 and 7000 yen for it.
