Thank you very much :)

Do you know why they decided to add more arms?

You're more than welcome :D

I guess because it's a really fast movement in the song? So, they added the extra arms in one frame to demonstrate the fastness of the animation? :) That's my best bet.

Love that scene, but all Ursula scenes are great. For me, it's little details--Ursula hitting a bull's-eye with that much force from a PIN. Then the fact that it's an angel's face she aimed at.... And also when you think about the fact that she doesn't have practice doing such a thing--you can't exactly play darts in water. I always thinl a lot of the joy in this scene--besides the obvious of being almost to the point of victory--is Ursula reveling in how much freer the body moves out of water, as well as youth of course.

Yes, Farerb, VanessaFan is right. They added extra arms to that one frame of Ursula to show where her arms have been all in one frame. The motion of her throwing out her arms is supposed to be so fast, we see all the places/positions her arms have been while making that motion, all at once in that one frame, to be faster. This kind of thing has been done in many pieces of animation in many studios in many years.

All good points and very true! :D But also, how much of Ursula's personality shines through in that short sequence of her. She's full of bad-girl attitude and I'm all for it! Just hearing Jodi Benson's evil voice as Vanessa is just great and I know she loved to play the evil part as well.

Now this sequence is another favorite of mine. Just how the sea shakes and bobles as the giant Ursula emerges from the sea as a true monster is horrorfying. And her laugh just makes it more scary/epic. I also love how Ariel and Eric are on top of the crown and are just being pushed upward. Another great little detail is Ursula's eyes as she opens them after blinking, you can't see her pupils, just the white in her eyes.  I always though that looked really scary!

I have always loved this sequence, ever since I was a kid. I remember seeing this in theaters during the 1997 theatrical re-release. And when the giant Ursula emerged from the ocean, the entire theater gasped.

I love how her laughter sounds normal at first, and then as she continues to grow, it becomes more monstrous and threatening. Plus her maniacal facial expression is so terrifying.

I would have LOVED to see The Little Mermaid in a theater. Sadly, I never got to see it. The cinemas in Denmark showed The Lion King when the 3D version was released and they showed Aladdin at one point, both of these I attended. But they have never shown Mermaid. I hope they will, someday. :)

But you're absolutely right, Vlad Sicoe, it's a (another) epic moment in the movie. And her laugh is just fantastic.

Number of frames: 106 frames.
A great sequence with Ariel and Flounder. It has always been one of my favorite ones from Part of Your World. When I go swimming and diving, I always try and mimic this twirl.

Image
Number of frames: 110 frames.
One of my favorite sequences with Fa Mulan. Although I'd say it's drawn in a strange angle. Almost like it's from a child's point of view. I'd have it drawn in a different angle if I had made this sequence, but it's not :)

Image
Number of frames: 35 frames.
I have always loved this little sequence with Jim. It's the scene where he sees John Silver for the first time and realizes he's a cyborg. I think it's funny that for a couple of frames, he looks at us.

Aw, I think so many of us tried to mimic Ariel in the pool. I know I did! But mostly Ursula and Morgana!

Ah, that moment with Ariel twirling around singing "ready to stand" is super iconic. I remember trying to replicate the animation when I was a kind, but it was so tiring. I just ended up drawing her in that pose.
