the new mickey mouse club

Post by topangatango »

does anyone have any idea if disney is/has been considering doing anything more with the show? from the early-mid 90s, it ran for years and we all know many now famous people who have come from it, but i havent seen it in forever. i know they had a marathon on the disney channel maybe about five years ago but i havent seen it since. a dvd set would be a very good consideration and i know i would buy it-- the same thing would go for many of my family and friends. it would be equally exciting if they were considering a new show of the same sort. something classic like that, for this new decade, with disneys added touch would be awesome as always. just cusious as to whether or not the company is thinking of anything along either of those lines.

Can you imagine the royalties Disney would have to pay if they wanted to release the 90s MMC? Justin, JC, Britney, Christina, Keri, Ryan...

If they were to make a new MMC today...I think it would be a bomb, because it would just be the half-hour for teenyboppers to practice their singing and acting craft before being manufactured into instant pop stars by the mouse house. At least the older MMC's were trying to entertain you.

I'm sure that disney owns ALL rights to those shows and can do whatever the hell they want with them.

If this were done today, it would suck ass. They all pretty much sucked after the 50s, I shudder to think how it would be in the 2000s.

If they did one now:

1. There would most likely be 20-30 castmembers, ranging from 15-22

2. Most likely, and I hate to say it, they'll be WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant)

3. The show would be 20 minutes (30 minutes, minus commercials) of a song, a horrible-trying-to-be-funny skit, another song, a few horrible-trying-to-be-funny parodies, yet another song, a celebrity guest star, and why not let's have another song, and FINALLY the closing (bring on the MMC Club Remix!).

4. One month into the show, they'll release a soundtrack, a best-of DVD with favorite moments, and a crossover DCOM.

5. Six months into the show, they'll have released more soundtracks, more DVD's, and the whole cast is new because the first cast have gone on to Disney's record companies and DCOS (Disney Channel Original Series). And the lucky ones do monthly DCOM's, and the even luckier ones go to the WB.

6. On the one year anniversary, there's a large extravaganza, with a marathon of episodes showing their earliest stars who are now successful teen idols like Joe Bob, Jane Chrissy, Bob Joe, and Chrissy Jane. But unfortunately, their biggest success, Eve Adams, had defected to another network where she's a highly successful sitcom star on a critically panned sitcom, so they can't mention her at all unless they wanna pay a huge royalty.

very go point but it would be fun to watch all the cheesiness. if anything just to ask yourself why in the world you watched it in the first place and remembering the stars of today before they went in the different directions that they did. as for today, itd be interesting to see how it would do ratings wise and where the cast would end up.

I actually asked the very same question a while ago with the same point that I wouod buy the DVDs howvere I cant reacall who it was that brough up a very good point to me. There have been 3 other versions before the new MMC which when you think about it would have to be realsed before the New club. So it might be a while before we this on DVD. :)
