Which culture would you like to see represented?

Post by reee9948 »

Personally, I would like to see Afghan/Iranian (Persia) culture represented in a Disney film. Persia has such a rich history and many stories they can adapt like Zahak (the king with a two snakes on each side demanding human sacrifices), Rostam and Sohrab (father and son fight each other on opposite side of the war, father kills his son and then finds out the person who he killed was his lost son), and so on

That's why I'm pretty sad that Suzi Yoonessi has been delayed cause I'm really curious on how Disney would depict Persian culture, but then again give Disney recent run, I'm not sure if the movie would've been good.

It would also interesting to see how they would depict other central Asians countries besides Afghanistan like Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakh, etc. A lot of westerners don't even know that these countries exist so I'm really curious on how Disney would represent them. I wouldn't be surprised if just blend in all the central Asian culture together like they did with Raya and the Last Dragon for south east Asia.

I wouldn't mind seeing a fairy tale from my country adapted into an animated film. Romanian literature has some great fairy tales. They would be great for a film in the style of the package features from the '40s.

If it's not baroque, don't fix it.

Lately, it kind of feels like their idea of representation is simply doing a pallet swap of anna/elsa and calling it a day. So I care more about fixing their overall quality issue before even asking what culture they should rep next.
