In the latest of unexpected news this late at night, legendary Disney animator Mark Henn has announced his retirement after 43 years of working with Walt Disney Animation Studios: https://x.com/disneyapromos/status/1735 ... 71302?s=46.

I just hope Mark Henn supervised the Vancouver Walt Disney Animation Studios division enough to make sure the #Tiana Disney+ series’ hand-drawn animation style looked right before he retired.

Apparently, a Twitter friend of mine named Jon Turner heard Mark Henn was supervising WDAS Vancouver on #Tiana’s hand-drawn look to make sure they knew how to make its hand-drawn style look right: https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/wis ... t-10777711. Hopefully he taught them well on that front to get the Tiana series’ hand-drawn look right before he retired.

Mark Henn is my favorite animator

I hope Eric Goldberg continues to work on restoring classics on 4K. I prefer that he does that rather than working on a new crappy movie or TV series.

All due respect, I’d not doubt the quality of the Tiana series, especially if it is strong like or stronger than The Princess and the Frog in terms of depicting Tiana and has strong hand-drawn animation.

So, I’d like for Eric Goldberg to help out on that since he animated Louis the Alligator and should keep to that with the Tiana series.

He can do both you know. We shouldn’t have him do only one thing.

Besides, we should believe in Tiana, not doubt it.

Come on, Faerb. Could you not be so quick to call Tiana crappy when I think the signs are there that it could be great?

In my opinion, despite what Henn is saying, I still think Tiana will be hand-drawn animated, otherwise I wouldn't have heard it over and over again from insiders who repeatedly claim as such and users here like JTurner wouldn't have heard that Henn was trainining people at WDAS Vancouver to get the hand-drawn animation on Tiana right. Maybe Henn, while he believes in Tiana, doesn't feel it's meaningful because it's a series instead of a movie, and feels beyond that and his upcoming short, he has no reason to stay at Walt Disney Animation Studios.
