I thought this was really cute, about what I expected. The Gaston-Cheshire Cat moment was my favorite part.

My favorite part was Prince Charming losing HIS shoe... very clever!

My only disappointment was that he and Cinderella weren’t animated better.
Along with most of the Walt era human characters.
I was surprised they did a better job with the animal characters (Bambi, Lady and Tramp, Dalmatians, etc) but I would assume they’d be less difficult to draw correctly in the classic 9 old men style.

You would assume correctly. Animals and caricatured human characters have always been easier to draw and animate than naturalistic-looking humans.

Richard Sherman is really up there at 95. His voice is frail but his mind seems clear as day. And he plays the piano with the same heart. Beautiful tribute!

I wish they would pour this kind of love, passion and reverence for the studio’s legacy into their feature films as well. Why only for a 9 minute short?

Either way, I’m still grateful for this short and these clips. Lovely stuff.

Was Andreas Deja trying to be nice or did he really mean it? Because the animation left a lot to be desired.
As far as Disney’s 100 anniversary and paying tribute to its 2D legacy, Deja liked the hybrid short, “Once Upon a Studio.” “I thought that the 2D animation in ‘Once Upon a Studio’ looks nice,” he said. “It is well done. As far as I know, there were a few young animators taking a crack at classic Disney characters. And they did a great job.

I think he meant it since the majority of people from everyplace I've seen thought the hand-drawn animation in Once Upon A Studio looked strong.

Just saw that Disney's been dropping these bits from the voice talent behind the short. I'll do my best to keep updating the list as I find more of them.

Anyways, Josh and Kelly have always struck me as sincere Disney fans who actually "get" what it means to voice a character. I feel like for some of the talent, they sort of have to learn after the fact that voicing a Disney character isn't just a cute little bit they can put on their resume. But these two in particular I feel have always understood the Disney legacy in all its history and weight, and I always look forward to hearing them talk about their experiences because I feel like it comes from a place of truth, not just PR.

Also, Dan and Trent talking more about their conception for the short.

Yeah I saw that and shared it on social media this morning.

I wonder why they’re doing this.

Maybe to get it more Oscars attention so it gets nominated and wins.

I knew they would. Not only is it good for scoring viral points with the general public, as mentioned, its award season.

I wish they used the 4k version though.
