Buck's observation about loving Disney villains whose villainy is apparent from the start has me thinking that Magnifico's transformation won't feel so jarring in the context of the film itself.

Seeing the upbeat song play against some of the animation, where we see Magnifico actually looking and behaving like a baddie, also has me thinking that the song will feel more classically villainish situated in the film.

750 movie theaters will have an early access screening of Wish on Saturday, November 18th at 4PM ET only: https://whatsondisneyplus.com/disneys-w ... ated-film/.

Looks like Disney is showing they have confidence in Wish as they're doing the same thing they did with Frozen when they preview screened it the weekend before release 10 years ago.

Disney seems very confident in this. Judging by trailer view it will definitely not be another Strange World. So crisis averted I guess.

According to Box Office Pro, Wish's opening weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) will make around 45-65 million dollar.

Some additional pics from the Art of Wish book here and here. Some may be spoilery.

Also, it appears that at one point during the development of the movie the Star was able to shapeshift into a human. I haven't read the book myself yet so I don't know how true it is or not, but people speculate the Star may have been intended as a love interest for Asha. There are concept art pics of human Star and Asha. I think it would have been an interesting idea to explore, but maybe a bit too similar to Raya.

Asha father name is Tomás.

I like those concept art at lot, sad that the final movie looks bland visually.

I don't get why they say Asha mom clothes are amazigh inspired, they don't look amazigh, looks more romani as I said in a previous post.

Anyways I send positive energy that the movie will end up being good and looking visually good in the big screen.

Also why they keep mentioning that the mom is north african as something weird when this is based in the Al Andalus, it's pretty normal in that time

The pre-release ticket sales have been really good where insiders are speculating that Wish may end up being a Moana or Big Hero 6 size success. It may go up or stay the same in the coming weeks, so we'll see.

Count me in on that one. Movie trailers/other promo footage on YouTube are stuck in compressed 1080p while the films themselves are always 4k in theaters. So, I have no doubts that Wish will look stunning on the big screen and not "ugly" or "unfinished" as some people online has claimed.

This is the most hyped I've been for a WDAS film since Moana which is a really good sign in my book.

I don't think it's a spoiler since it's not part of the final movie and Jennifer Lee already revealed part of it in interviews. Apparently, according to the book, there were three earlier versions of Star in which the character was quite different. Here's concept art of the previous versions and some info:
On the way to achieving the final design, Star underwent four developmental phases. In phase one, Star assumed various human forms. In phase two, Star became an ethereal, magical shape-shifter. Phase three saw Star descending to Earth as a younger representation of Asha's beloved grandfather, Sabino, who passed away in a former version of the story. Star is also a shape-shifter in this version. In phase four, the final iteration, Star becomes an irrepressible life force, the embodiment of pure joy, light, positivity, and inspiration.

I designed a human character, part magical, part glowing, inspired a bit by Peter Pan. I also designed another version of Star with a face that had some of the proportions, openness, and charm of Mickey Mouse, to bring some of Walt Disney's inspiration into a legacy project." -Bill Schwab, ART DIRECTOR, CHARACTER

When Star was a shape-shifter, when Star could talk, we kept asking ourselves, How is Star different from the genie in Aladdin? Once Star became a mime character, it was brain- breaking and so liberating. Now Star and Asha have an emotional journey. They are soulmates. -Allison Moore, WRITER
I don't think there was going to be a romance between Star and Asha in a previous iteration of the story, but I wonder if the genderfluid character Grace Randolph talked about was one of these earlier versions of Star.

One thing from the book that's a bit more spoilery is that Queen Amaya was going to be an evil coconspirator with Magnifico at first. You can read about it at this point of the flipthrough video. I wonder if they took inspiration from the Catholic Monarchs to create the royal couple.

Something tells me Sakina made that little sweater for Star, so that she must find out about Star at some point in the movie before the final battle.

I just started reading the art book (I flipped through it when it came a couple nights ago). I'll post more (although I know cool things like Star's evolution have already been posted!) if I see something, but I wanted to share this:

Page 9 (Foreward):
Many ideas came and went, making space for what we have on-screen today. From our hero initially living in a remote, hidden town, to our teens being a group of rebels hanging out in a hidden lair, to Amaya being a hundred-year-old outcast queen wishing to restore her rule-- so many ideas ended up being cut or reworked."

All the concept art looks better than the final movie 😭😭😭😭

Like all the other versions of each character are miles better

It's like Encanto that the concept art book had amazing designs and they went with the most basic ones, also I preferred Mirabel going in a bus around Colombia instead of "adventures in the house"

Btw black North africans exist, not denying that, they totally exist and existed, but they never acknowledge that 99% of black people in the mediterranean are of west african origin and not tuaregs, Tuareg are a very small group of people

Edit: I just checked numbers and tuaregs are not that small, they have a decent number around many countries, still my point is the same, in the sea towns of the mediterranean most black people are of west african origin

Edit2: wow all the super racist white North africans who are angry Asha is tuareg and not a blonde pale kabyle.

Also I don't like how they are appropiating OUR MOVIE (I mean iberians) like if me as an spaniard saying Encanto is my movie because Spain colonized Colombia, yes Wish has a ton of North african things, duh they colonized us (well in my case my dad is north african, so I colonized myself?)
