Vailskibum! :D My favorite YouTube channel since I was Grade 2! I actually said and posted the same thing here in this forum, with the 4K edit of the trailer being what it will really look like and the Disney renderer’s tweet about it. It brought back my hype just a bit for this movie which is nice.

Per Cryptic HD Quality, we have more Wish stuff coming on Monday for the day of #Disney100: https://x.com/Cryptic4KQual/status/1711 ... 94062?s=20.

My hope is tickets for Wish going on sale since starting on the day of Disney's 100th Anniversary, the film it was made to celebrate, will boost it in presales.

And maybe we get a third and final trailer too, if Disney markets Wish like they did the first Frozen back 10 years ago when they dropped the final trailer between 2.5 to 3.5 weeks after the second and at least a month before release.

The fact that King Magnifico begins as a decent but highly questionable person, into an absolute paranoid monster who Queen Amaya sees as beyond saving is cool to see in a Disney film. The Queen deciding to help Asha and her friends defeat him for he no longer does what's right for the people of Rosas is an interesting way to go with this story. Plus, his defeat/death of being dissolved into the staff reminds me a lot of the way Jafar was defeated. Thank goodness he doesn't turn into a dragon or a giant monster or something that leads to a giant Disney reference that would've been distracting and goofy. Though Magnifico using his staff to cast a very dark cloud upon the kingdom does give me Maleficent vibes and I actually love that.

Thanks for posting.

I have to keep reminding myself that this is a children's storybook and therefore a very simplistic telling, but the story as presented is very underwhelming to me, with what seems a very generic moral/resolution in the same vein as "you had a power in yourself all along" that's been done countless times before. We'll see how the actual movie expands on all this, because right now it's all very meh.

The story looks fine, it's just a kids book so leaves a ton of info but overall the story seems fine

The movie can be really good like Tangled or Moana (I dislike the frozen movies and Encanto, Raya was fine it was okay)

The plot of the movie is exactly as we predicted. Yawn. Given the visuals are also underwhelming, the film's success will probably rest on the songs.

ANYWAY, moving on from Sotiris’s constant negativity…

Heads up, guys.

Looks like tickets for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ #Wish go on sale Monday, October 16 for the day of the #Disney100 Anniversary, just as I hoped and pleaded with Bob Iger to make happen: https://x.com/cryptic4kqual/status/1711 ... 30266?s=46.

Thank god for that.

Glad Disney’s at least getting the message read to market #Wish hard. And for good reason as I have been told that the presales of tickets for #TheMarvels (which I got mine for in IMAX 3D on opening day at 4PM) are as bad as The Flash…

If that’s true, then YIKES.

Looks like, unlike Wish, The Marvels will need good word of mouth to save its ass at the box office in a month from now.

And people tell me I'm crazy for thinking the possibility of The Marvels flopping is true. Well, looks they were wrong to doubt me.

Now, we'll see if Wish can have the opposite fate of how The Marvels is faring.

I keep telling people that Disney should have put more effort and marketing into Wish.

But they never listen.

They NEVER listen.

I’m glad, after this movie's results of presales so far, at least Disney is listening to people like me when it comes to Wish maybe needing more effort put into its marketing and thank the lord they’re about to do just that w/ #Wish.

I remember reading somewhere that the studio wants to release it early, so that when it comes to the Oscars, they will avoid another Encanto situation. Where one song gets the awards consideration attention while ignoring the other songs.
The deadline to submit songs to the Oscars is November 1; I doubt they'll release the soundtrack that early. Normally, it comes out a week or so before the film opens. I think what they meant by that is that they'll release some snippets, clips or featurettes about the songs, so they can see the audience reaction. Although, who knows, perhaps they'll do it differently this time. So far, we've only heard "This Wish"; I'm curious to listen to the other songs.

I’m also underwhelmed. And I admit that is really unfair since we’ve seen so little and the newest piece of the puzzle is just a storybook that I’m sure leaves out a lot.

Do we know if Sakina is Sabino’s daughter?

I think I’m most looking forward to Star. Its design is adorable.

How are we going to know that Star is *the* wishing Star from other Disney movies? Is the movie going to end with a Disney montage, ala Babylon? I hated that in Babylon, but a series of Disney images with the right orchestral score can make me weep.

Or will that stuff not be explained, and maybe the concept was cut from the movie?

No, Sabino is Asha's grandfather on her father's side.

The person reading somehow managed to mispronounce half the names. Just... how? The words are right in front of you!

After watching that video as well, I'm going to post the plot points I don't like:
- grandfather's wish being oddly non-specific, he might have as well wished for world peace
- the back-and-forth between the castle and the forest -- weird to think that the castle defenses wouldn't have been upped after the first time Asha infiltrated the castle. The final showdown should have happened elsewhere, maybe a secret villain lair?
- it's like, fairly political and a bit Orwellian (absolute power corrupts, unity is strength), but doesn't really commit itself fully to the idea, opting for resolution via fairytale tropes. The King wants to protect the kingdom by doing what he feels is right, but doesn't see how misguided his ways are. And lets not kid ourselves, even in real life, not everybody's wish should be granted (imagine someone wishing for someone else's death), so the King is not really wrong. His sudden turn into a maniacal villain doesn't really feel natural because there don't appear to be any signs of it before? Even the Queen seems taken aback with the heel turn :/ I feel like if there ever was a reason to have a reformed villain, this should have been it, like if he died sacrificing himself.
- the Queen herself seems as bland as they come. Her being either a secret villain/or a deceased spirit would have spiced up the story a bit.
- again, too many characters. I feel the Teens (* shudders *) could have been cut down to, like, two instead of seven, and I don't think it would have impacted the plot as seen in the storybook

Ugh.

Maybe the Deluxe Junior Novelization and the film itself will probably be fleshed out more than these other books do. Honestly if I was putting my critical lens on, I would argue that the plot of Wish on paper is no more stranger and vague than the WDAS films from the past 13 years or so. So this isn't anything new to me.

Oh, and to me personally, the endless repeating of the opinion that the visuals are "underwhelming" and "unfinished"; is starting to get very old, very quickly. It's making me yawn more than anything else at this point.

Yeah, video compression really stinks, I agree with that. Honestly, the film's animation and art direction look incredible and beautiful in 4k. It makes me want to get the Art Of book.

Honestly, saaaaaammeeeeeee man. It's also getting really annoying for me since people are saying that just to hate on Disney. That and they say that the movie is written by ChatGPT which just makes me so :x I really hope this doesn't sound like I'm kissing the ground Disney walks on, I really do think Disney nowadays are greedy and prefer quantity over quality, but still...The movies that used this 2d/3d animation style (Spider-Verse, TMNT: Mutant Mayhem and Puss in Boots 2, love them so much) are all based on preexisting properties and franchises whereas this movie is fully original and they're really trying hard to make this new visual style for the studio. I fully believe this movie will be much more better and beautiful when it's on the big screen instead of a small phone, iPad or laptop, which is why Jennifer Lee said that it should be seen in theaters and cinemas and not in streaming.

I already expected that the books are made for children in mind, hence the simple and streamlined plot, and you know what, I'm even more intrigued with the story. How everyone is made of stars is the one that interested me the most Even D82 posted that plot detail here in this forum when Wish was being shown in multiple European countries. I think it was in the Spanish interview. Anyway, so glad my hype for this movie is being revived more and more and I can't wait to see the art of the movie in the official art book :D

Also, I already expected that Walt Disney Animation Studios will withheld information of their upcoming movies, even when it's near the release. They've been doing that for so many years and even though it frustrates some, myself included, it still doesn't faze me at all.

I'm willing to bet that her grandfather's wish of creating something that will inspire others will be revealed to be Asha herself.
