That’s funny. My first thought was, this is the kind of art you see on the back of the DVD/Blu ray case.

Okay, that's just mean, people are saying that because they want to ride on that Disney hate train. It doesn't even look like AI, the biggest indicator being that they don't have multiple fingers which is what AI struggles to do.Farerb wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 12:33 amPeople are commenting that this image was made using AI.Farerb wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 1:32 pm New promotional image of Asha and the Teens:

I really like the image too. Honestly if it was AI art it would've been so obvious, but it isn't. Re: Wish
You know, regarding all the new pictures, I truly loved the new poster. It looks stunningly beautiful. And I do like the new picture of the squad.
Re: Wish
Some new info I've seen in the articles, mostly about Magnifico:
• Magnifico's name is a nod to Maleficent.
• He built the kingdom of Rosas.
• More hints about his backstory:
• Asha is about to turn 18, which is when people at Rosas are expected to give up their wish to Magnifico.
• Asha sees Magnifico sing his villain song.
• Magnifico's name is a nod to Maleficent.
Source: https://screenrant.com/wish-movie-chris ... interview/CHRIS BUCK: And then, even the name Magnifico came from, well he's basically a narcissist. So of course he would call himself Magnifico. But it was also sort of a nod to Maleficent, right? So Maleficent, it's in the name, sort of what her character is, and then this guy's, well, he would come up with a name like that. So we had fun with that.
• He built the kingdom of Rosas.
Source: https://www.fandom.com/articles/disneys ... of-dynamicLee also observed that while Magnifico is self-named, which is certainly revealing a grandiose side, “He’s self-taught and he also he formed this kingdom himself. He wasn’t born into this. He had to be so charismatic. And we had to be able to believe his philosophies ourselves because he was able to woo people from all around the world. And that was something we had never done before too which was important to the story to really get across what he thought he was doing. That was a fun breakthrough in it.”
Source: https://mamasgeeky.com/2023/09/disney-w ... rview.html“There was cultures coming from all around the world at a certain time. And then knowing Magnifico built this kingdom not knowing if they’d come. And people came because they believed in his vision. And so, it gave us an opportunity to connect people from all around the world,” Jennifer Lee reveals.
• More hints about his backstory:
Source: https://www.fandom.com/articles/disneys ... of-dynamicIn one of the clips shown at the press event, an early encounter between Magnifico and Asha – who is seeking a job working for Magnifico at the time – has him confiding in her about the huge losses his family endured when he was young and how he wished he knew how to use magic back then to protect them.
As Lee explained, “The biggest thing we saw is people just really wanted not just the arch black and white kind of villain, but they wanted to know his wounds.” She added, with a chuckle, “I was like, ‘Oh, it’s so us now as a society.’ We want to get deep underneath and almost the therapy inside the psyche. And that was delicious. So [it was] the concept of really deconstructing, and going back to his childhood and understanding his choices and where’s the benevolent part of him?”
• Asha is about to turn 18, which is when people at Rosas are expected to give up their wish to Magnifico.
Source: https://www.laughingplace.com/w/disney- ... rytelling/The Kingdom of Rosas was founded by King Magnifico (voiced by Chris Pine), a sorcerer with the power to grant wishes, which draws hopeful grantees to the island. They willingly give their wishes to King Magnifico, forgetting what they were in the hopes that he will make their wish come true someday. Asha (voiced by Ariana DeBose) is a Rosas resident on the verge of turning 18, at which time she will be expected to give up her own wish. Her grandfather, Sabino (voiced by Victor Garber), is about to turn 100, and his wish has yet to be granted, so when Asha gets the opportunity to become the sorcerer’s apprentice, she hopes King Magnifico will grant Sabino’s wish. When he doesn’t, Asha begins to question everything and sets off in search of a way to make her grandpa’s wish come true and avoid losing her own in the process. And thus, the adventure begins.
• Asha sees Magnifico sing his villain song.
Source: https://www.fandom.com/articles/disneys ... of-dynamicOne other important thing the Wish team knew they had to include if they were going to have a true central villain? Reyes Lancaster Jones remarked “From the very beginning, we also knew that we would have the return of the villain song, which I know we all love about them.” And indeed, we were shown Magnifico’s very fun big number, “This is the Thanks I Get,” in which he bemoans all he believes he’s done for the people of Rosas, only to now find himself facing opposition – while not realizing Asha is spying on him.

Re: Wish
So, I recently rewatched the trailer of Wish, edited and converted into 4k, and it is much more better than the one Disney Animation released. You can clearly see the finite details in the background and the linework in the characters. It really feels like a watercolor painting or storybook coming to life just like what Disney said.

Re: Wish
I just read an article and AGAIN they said the movie is based in the mediterranean as a whole and not spain
Why are they so afraid of saying Spain GOD
The kingdom has a spanish name, spanish name king and queen, the civilians either have spanish or Arabic names (normal in the Al Andalus) the architecture and clothes are all based in that period of time in Spain and the island is near the iberian peninsula
Like why they want to pretend the island could be greek or tunisian when it’s very obviously Spain
also Asha ñame is based in Axa from Federico García Lorca ‘’las tres moritas de Jaén’’ in the spanish dub they even pronounce it Asa instead of Asha

Re: Wish
Oh, so that's why it's pronounced like that in the Spanish dub? But shouldn't it be pronounced "acsa" if it's written Axa or is it an old way of pronouncing it? By the way, on Wikipedia it says it's a name of Hebrew origin.Pokenonbinary wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 3:45 am also Asha ñame is based in Axa from Federico García Lorca ‘’las tres moritas de Jaén’’ in the spanish dub they even pronounce it Asa instead of Asha

I don’t know honestly but I guess in old spanish it’s pronounced Asa
X in old spanish is J so it would be Aja, or maybe Acha, or Acsa as you said
Anyways the thing is that Asha name is based in spain like everything and I’m tired of them saying Mediterranean
It would be like them making Raya 99% filipino and then saying SEAsia (just an example, Raya was actually many different countries)

Two new book covers:

Source: https://www.amazon.fr/WISH-ASHA-BONNE-% ... ef=sr_1_34

Source: https://www.amazon.fr/WISH-ASHA-BONNE-% ... ef=sr_1_14
The latter shows Gabo holding a pile of dirty pots and pans. Could he be working in the royal kitchen as well?

Safi is featured holding a basket of eggs and Hal some honey pots again. I wonder if they supply the castle with goods. Maybe all the Teens work for the king in some capacity.

I know some things were pronounced differently in the past, so maybe you're right it was pronounced Asa. The article you mention is the one below, right? It's strange they don't want to name Spain there when it has already been confirmed the kingdom of Rosas is located just off the Iberian Peninsula. Anyway, like you said, it's clear from the names and influences that's where it's set.Pokenonbinary wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 1:41 pm I don’t know honestly but I guess in old spanish it’s pronounced Asa

Source: https://mamasgeeky.com/2023/09/disney-w ... rview.htmlWhere and when exactly is Wish set? Chris Buck explains that just as the Frozen films are inspired by Norway, Wish is inspired by the islands of the Mediterranean Sea. “We’re not saying it’s that actual area, but we do look to those regions for some of the coloring, what cultures would’ve been there. And this takes place between 1200 and 1300.”
Fawn Veerasunthorn adds, “For our story, we wanted to create Rosas as a destination, a place people go to. In the Mediterranean Sea, that’s kind of where all the cultures converged, historically. We worked with our culture consultant to make sure that this could happen.”
“There was cultures coming from all around the world at a certain time. And then knowing Magnifico built this kingdom not knowing if they’d come. And people came because they believed in his vision. And so, it gave us an opportunity to connect people from all around the world,” Jennifer Lee reveals.
I think he's just a very short teen, but maybe it's a bit of a nod to the seven dwarfs. Speaking of that, I never thought much about it, but there was actually a disabled character among the original seven dwarfs; Dopey. It has been confirmed the teen inspired by him does talk, so perhaps that's why they gave Dhalia a disability instead, so people wouldn't complain about him being able to talk.carolinakid wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 11:17 pm Is the Grumpy kid supposed to be a dwarf or just a very short teen??
I forgot to reply to your comment. What I meant is that that way of shooting might be a bit confusing for children, but I've now seen a clip from the show and I see it's not that complicated to understand what's going on. It's quite an original idea. Disney films are not that experimental, though, so I don't see them making a full film like that, but I could see them doing a scene, for example, in that style. That could be fun.ElMaximo13 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 8:26 am By “a Peep Show version of Wish”, I meant a version of the movie where each shot is from a different character’s POV and you can hear each character’s thoughts through a voiceover, but with none of the adult stuff from the show in it. But I guess I’d actually be happy enough with Asha and Dahlia calling each other “The El Dude Sisters” and doing the “ehhh” thing that the main two characters do in Peep Show. That’d be really funny. On a side note, I think Jennifer Lee talked about the importance of Wish being a “teen girl story”, so although it’s for kids there’s also that element of it.
I noticed that too. Maybe her friends tend to visit Dahlia at the castle, or come to provide the kitchen with goods, as I've speculated based on the new book cover, and she has custom mugs for them to invite them to drink.ElMaximo13 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 1:13 pm I literally just noticed that there’s a line of wooden mugs behind Dahlia in the part of the trailer where Asha says she thinks her mouth is drooping and each one has the first letter of each Teen’s name on it. Does anyone think this means anything?

Re: Wish
I feel like 1200 is earlier than pretty much all of the Disney canon. That certainly lends credence to the idea that this is the origin story of the same Wishing Star that appears in Peter Pan, Pinocchio, etc. in some plane where all the Disney movies exist in the same universe.

And it's normal Wish is based in the 1200 and 1300, it's the Al Andalus period of time (it was almost 800 years, but it ended at 1400, so they decided something in the middle)

Re: Wish
I wonder when they'll announce the soundtrack and when it's coming out. I remember reading somewhere that the studio wants to release it early, so that when it comes to the Oscars, they will avoid another Encanto situation. Where one song gets the awards consideration attention while ignoring the other songs.
