Re: Wish
So they didn’t get a trailer? I wasn’t sure when the general public would see a trailer, but I thought for sure they’d show one to this crowd.
Was this 10 minutes new footage or had it been screened before?
God bless that poor cast member having to complete that choreography to tepid applause.

Re: Wish
Well, I had a feeling no trailer was coming today.
So, I guess we’ll have to wait for another 1-2 weeks.

Re: Wish
They're making the same mistake they did with Strange World and Encanto. They assume the general public automatically anticipates a new Disney film, when the truth is, it's just us fans. The general audience isn't aware and doesn't care until they make them care, but now it's just too late to create any hype in just two months.

Maybe they share some new details about the film at the 100 Years of Walt Disney Animation Studios panel, with Mark Henn and Wish's heads of animation Becky Bresee and Wayne Unten, which is taking place right now. But I think this is in line with what they usually show at this particular convention. I was hoping we would get some new info like some more cast announcements or something like that, but nothing too big. Anyway, the trailer will most likely be released soon.Farerb wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2023 8:48 am They're making the same mistake they did with Strange World and Encanto. She's wearing her pants under the dress, so cheap looking, also her braids look cheap, I know it's the prototipe of how she will look but overall its a very cheap looking cosplay
And they should have released the trailer today, why did they made the directors fly for nothing

Actually, she isn't wearing pants; that's just Chris Buck behind her that makes it look like she is wearing something under her dress. But no that's just the picture being weird.Pokenonbinary wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2023 9:38 am She's wearing her pants under the dress, so cheap looking, also her braids look cheap, I know it's the prototipe of how she will look but overall its a very cheap looking cosplay

You know, Faerb, this person here made a point about Wish’s marketing not being revved up by Disney yet when comparing it to Frozen: https://x.com/mistercoat/status/1700890 ... 80733?s=46.

Re: Wish
Oh yeah, I almost forgot that Frozen did something very similar to Wish's marketing 10 years ago. We didn't get much from that movie either until sometime in September when we finally got a new trailer and then in October, we got the third final trailer (the superior one IMO) to hype everyone up.
I think Disney is hoping to capture the same magic this time around, since Wish is indeed their return to a fairytale film since Frozen. Honestly Moana feels more inspired by mythology than fairytale storytelling, and Encanto is based in magical realism for the most part.

Re: Wish
Apparently, only the two songs were shown:
Here's also another photo from the presentation:

Source: https://twitter.com/DrewDisneyDude/stat ... 5991718092Was it the first 10 minutes or just random 10 min?
It started at the part where Asha makes the wish to the star. That section showed a lot from the teaser trailer, and then it went into another song. I loved it.
Source: https://allears.net/2023/09/10/disney-s ... ish-movie/Then Disney played the first 10 minutes of the film, which included two songs! While we weren’t able to take any photos or videos of the film or songs, here’s a breakdown of what we saw on screen: (WARNING: spoilers ahead)
Asha is conflicted in life, as she says she thought the truth would set her free, but she feels weighed down. She reflects on being told to sit down when she wants to speak, and that even though she’s young, she knows she’s not wrong. As the first song begins, Asha runs through her environment (it gave us strong “Into The Unknown” vibes from Frozen 2), and one star in the starry night shines bright, warming the area as if it were daylight. Asha is energized by the star, but it turns into a chaotic presence, running around as Asha tries to catch it.
The playful star brings mushrooms to life and gives a voice to the goat, Valentino. The animals are all gifted speaking voices and sing the second song, which we found very catchy and melodically pleasing. Parents, watch out — we have a feeling this will be a hit, and your kids will want it on repeat!

Re: Wish
I really don't understand how people think that Disney is not going to market this one. It seems bizarre. IIRC, someone did claim on Twitter that a new trailer is in production, but we don't know when. Either way, this angsting about the film's marketing and potential bombing (I doubt it will) is pretty annoying. Hopefully the trailer will come out soon and put an end to all the panicking.

Always a pleasure to answer you D82 and thanks a lot for sharing what you find around the web. Most of the time, I find the same things and stuff, and eventually more, but I don't post very much here because I sense this thread is very anxiety-inducing while I'm only looking here for news, updates, etc.D82 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2023 6:36 amI guess the song that was omitted from the footage at that point is the duet he has with Asha. His solo will probably take place later when he turns truly evil. By the way, I don't know if you'll read this, Prince Kido, but how does Asha know that's his grandfather's wish? Can people see images or something inside the spheres? I hadn't thought about it before, but they remind me of the balls from Inside Out, only that those held memories instead of dreams.Prince Kido wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 2:13 am The Magnifico song was not shown to us but the excerpt resumes after obviously and the spheres containing the wishes of the people are at Asha's height and she finds and holds her grandfather one and is touched.
However, it's difficult to remember exactly what I saw at Annecy's festival last June.
My memories about the presentation are fading a bit now, haha. I would say we don't see inside the spheres as the audience, but it seems that Asha can see in it / them. As I said, there was a cut for us in the 20 minutes footage when Magnifico's song happens. When we are back after it, the spheres are floating down the room, like in the teaser trailer, and Asha is holding one sphere and said to the King that it is her grandpa's and that she would like Magnifico to get this wish granted as it is his 100th birthday that day, right before the Wishes Ceremony. I'm not sure but the King answered something ambivalent to Asha like "Oh, so you're here because you are interested, you are like every people".
Asha is confused, apologized but she insists politely because her grandpa is so old that she would like him to get his wish accomplished now. King says something like "How do you know it's not a wish that could be dangerous to the people, it's too risky" and Asha says that he won't never harm anyone. Magnifico is very like Gothel to me : passive-agressive, trying to make Asha feeling guilty or too demanding...
But it's hard to me to answer properly because it's still unclear to me if the wishes can be seen in the spheres, or how Asha knows the sphere she holds is her grandfather's one. I guess it is seen / explained during the King's song. What seems obvious is that she knows Sabino's wish because later at home, she tells him about it but he doesn't remember it. Asha tells she can tell him what it is but he gets angry as he doesn't want to know if he can't have it realized before he'll die.
One more thing, when a bit later she runs away from home after the dispute with Sabino, she sings and she walks through Rosas, we as the audience, can see the wishes from some citizens in "magic form"...
I hope I answered a bit but again, hard to remember properly everything because the first time you attend this kind of event, there are so much to focus on and I have to admit that I am more excited about the animation, the look of the characters, their acting, the colors and mood that the dialogues, haha!!
Can't wait for the trailer and new poster while it seems long since April, but nearly every Disney animated feature had their trailers in the second half of September, so wait and see!

Thanks for answering my question! A lot of time has passed since the presentation; it's only natural you can't remember it as well as right after the event. And it's true there's a lot to focus on the first time you see something like that. I would've been paying more attention to the other things you mentioned than the dialogues as well. But you still remember a lot of things. Your descriptions are more detailed than any of the others found online. I think how Asha knows it's her grandpa's wish is probably explained during the song that was omitted from the presentation, like you said. Perhaps, when she first touches the sphere she can see a flashback in her mind of Sabino making the wish or something like that. It's also interesting that we can see the wishes of other citizens during Asha's song.Prince Kido wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 6:57 am Always a pleasure to answer you D82 and thanks a lot for sharing what you find around the web. I guess people expected the trailer to arrive earlier this time because the teaser came earlier, but yes, usually the first trailers aren't released until mid-September, so Wish's marketing is not unusual for Disney. Anyway, it's nice to see people are so excited for the film. This must be one of the most anticipated trailers ever on this forum.Prince Kido wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 6:57 am Can't wait for the trailer and new poster while it seems long since April, but nearly every Disney animated feature had their trailers in the second half of September, so wait and see!

I'm very happy because I hate disney movies that take place in the same location all the time, I hate that Encanto happens so fast and in the same place, there's no challenge.
In the concept arts Mirabel travelled around all Colombia and that sounded by far better

Personally, I have nothing against road trip movies per se; it's just that Lasseter used that type of story too frequently and some of us ended getting a bit tired of them. But now that we've had a bit of a break from them at WDAS and Pixar, I don't mind its use here as long as it's done well.Pokenonbinary wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 11:35 am One doll says travel Asha, meaning it's a type of "hero journey" movie and we will probably get more characters we don't know yet in the movie (something many people don't like in this forum)
