Are you referring to the Little Golden Book? Personally, I hate that simplistic and child-like illustration style that is often found in storybooks nowadays. I much prefer the more detailed, Disney house style for storybooks that resembles the actual look of the film like the one for used for the "Welcome to Rosas!" book.
Agreed. I don`t like that style either. I find it to be too pedestrian and ordinary.

I really like Joey Chouโ€™s work for Disney. I have some glasses with his designs. Very Mary Blair-esque.

Sorry for my comment. I really hope that you don`t think that I was trashing the style.

Yes, I was talking about the little golden book. In my opiniรณn the art of these books is perfect for the childrens that are starting to read books. Is more simple than other Disney's storybook but that's the idea. I recomend you a book of the story of little golden books by Charles Solomon. It's very great.

I don't know. As a child I remember not liking those simple and crude drawings and preferred the more detailed and naturalistic ones. Those were the ones that impressed me and sparked my imagination. It's sad that children's publishing has been overtaken by this simplistic style. Just because the target audience is kids doesn't mean that everything needs to look round and rudimentary. Artists working in illustration are to blame for that too. A lot of them adopt this style because it requires less time and skill to replicate. In any case, I think the industry is doing children a disservice by not exposing them to different art styles and more intricate art.

Well, the Q3 2023 Disney earnings call is gonna happen in two days. Letโ€™s hope that during that call, Bob Iger will reaffirm and commit to Disneyโ€™s Wish coming out only in theaters this Thanksgiving as planned and not delay it.

I don't see the similarity between Chou and Blair? At least I always loved the latter, don't really like what work I've seen of the former.

I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow, but I have high hopes that the delay won't happen at all.

Me too, especially since more animators are saying Wish will still come out this Thanksgiving, even one I spoke to who said that full animation on the film is done: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cvs1wmdSp1y ... _copy_link.

Also, Big Screen Leaks recently said a press tour for Wish is happening next week (https://twitter.com/bigscreenleaks/stat ... 17444?s=46), so maybe next week, perhaps on Monday to mark #Disney100 days from the filmโ€™s theatrical release, weโ€™ll get the second trailer for Wish.

Is the deer silhouette suppose to reference Bambi? :? :eyebrow: It looks so mystical and really does resemble him, theres no reason for him not being shown like all the other animals there but oh well :)

I think it is the reference to Bambi.

I love the first puzzle image of Asha. I don't mind her friends--I think they look better in that bottom puzzle than the promo image of them from the past--although their designs are noticeably lower in quality standing beside her. Not too different from the stepsisters in Cinderella who look noticeably cartoony beside Cinderella and Tremaine. I like the friends more than the goat.

The puzzle art looks quite pretty. I'm also growing to like Asha's friends designs a bit more as time goes on.

Well, Iger didnโ€™t mention the release date of Wish during the call but look at this. The Appendix in the slides of the presentation in Disneyโ€™s Q3 2023 earnings call (https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/app/up ... tation.pdf) was released and look. The slate of Disneyโ€™s next theatrical releases in 2023-2024 show that Walt Disney Animation Studiosโ€™ #Wish ainโ€™t gonna be delayed.

I'm more worried about how useless they're going to be. Disney films nowadays are overwritten and overstuffed that they just don't really have time to develop secondary characters, not to mention an entire group of people, that was the case with both Raya and Encanto.

In Aladdin they also planned to have three friends for Aladdin, and then they decided to simplify the story and he just got a monkey. So now we're having SEVEN friends AND a goat AND a star!
