True. But let`s remember that Snow White is after all the cornerstone of the company. It`s (pardon my intended pun) the one who started it all and has been quite successful on re-releases.

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
Honestly, I'm on her side. Actors deserve better residuals for their work. Streaming was not taken into account during the last round of contract agreements, and the studios have been making bank while the creative minds both behind the camera and in front of it have suffered. Mandy Moore starred for six seasons on "This Is Us," one of the highest-rated television shows of its time. The show only ended last year, but streaming residuals for her have been mere pennies. Robert Carradine has shared IG posts where "Lizzie McGuire" streaming residuals are so low they register simply as $0.00 on checks that literally cost more for a studio to mail out than for him to cash (obviously). Zegler got paid for her work during the filming of Snow White, but any streaming profit that will come from that film in perpetuity will go straight to Disney's pockets because of what the current contracts are. Performers' likeness and work should be compensated even after the cameras have stopped rolling and the film has been released.Sotiris wrote: ↑Sat Aug 05, 2023 5:02 pm Can she be more insufferable?![]()

This is the same case as when Disney began issuing their films on home video in the 1980s and voice actors were not seeing a penny of the profits. Films like Lady and the Tramp and Sleeping Beauty made millions for the company circa 1986, but none of that went to the actual people who worked on the film. Peggy Lee, Mary Costa, and others filed suit to be compensated because their work was still being used by the company, but (again) contracts at the time did not foresee residuals for future forms of media.
This is not entitlement. This is not insufferable. This is a working professional who wants to be paid fairly, and who wants to ensure everyone in the union - whether they are an A-list Hollywood star or a television mainstay or simply an under-five that picks up whatever roles open up and still hope for their big break - get paid fairly as well. Whether it be residuals or the upfront salary or even the most basic qualifications for healthcare.

Well said, Escapay. Err… well written, I mean.
Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
Thank you Escapay! Your post was well-written, and you are absolutely right. I feel like people outside LA and NYC don’t understand why WGA and SAG are striking and think the writers and actors are just whiners, but you summed it up perfectly. Also, happy to see an Ultimate Disney OG member pop up again.

TBH, I had no idea that comment was said in relation to the writer's strike at first when I read it just now? I thought she was complaining about working on set or having to stand around waiting to film or something. If it was about the former, I agree with the sentiment regardless of who it's coming from, I suppose, since I think actors/writers should get more residuals and streaming is a crap deal for the industry. Although she could've been more clear by ending with some kind of # or whatever.
Either way, I think she has been generally unlikable in the past, politics aside.

I agree on what they are doing to Snow White (lol what you said about her using self love to fight her way out of her coma!) and I agree Cinderella's live-action is almost as good as the original and the best live-action remake! The Disneynerd wrote: ↑Sat Aug 05, 2023 7:29 am...no reason of getting them cancelled, unlike "Snow White". No dwarfs, no Snow White with "skin as white as snow" and the newly surfaced scandal of the new Snow White being too aware that dreaming of true love is weak and becoming a girlboss leader who can save herself and therefore fight herself awake from her coma due to selfloveYeah agree although i LOVE Live action Cinderella, its on par with the animated one for me!carolinakid wrote: ↑Sat Aug 05, 2023 3:17 am To be fair, none of the animated classics have deserved any of the desecration wrought by the remakes in the first place.![]()

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I didn't take issue with her talking about streaming residuals, but with how she phrased it. It came off as if standing around in a princess dress is such a huge sacrifice and indignity that needs to be compensated extra. Not to mention, she could have highlighted how residuals are vital for actors who aren't big names; they are the ones who are are actually screwed over by the studios. Instead she chose to make it all about herself.Disney's Divinity wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 9:00 pmTBH, I had no idea that comment was said in relation to the writer's strike at first when I read it just now? With such a smug attitude and off-putting personality, she deserves to have three box office flops in a row.

And it was so much to shoot, because it's so different than anything I've ever done.
Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I was kinda excited to see her play the iconic Princess, because of her beautiful singing voice, but now, after everything she has said so far, I think she will be the main reason why this movie will flop. She has a very off-putting personality.

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I must have missed this part when the interview was first posted. They're apparently changing the meaning of "fairest one of all". Does this mean the Evil Queen will no longer be envious of Snow White's looks? She'll just want to kill her because she poses a threat to her power over the kingdom?
Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDBdoafhIfERachel Zegler wrote:When we came to reimagining the actual role of Snow White it became about the fairest of them all meaning who is the most just. And who can become a fantastic leader. And the reality is, you know, Snow White has to learn a lot of lessons about coming into her own power before she can come into power over a kingdom.

Snow White is trending again on Twitter because of a resurfaced interview with Zegler where she calls the prince in the original a creepy stalker.

This whole thing is one big hilarious PR disaster.
They all need to stop doing press. Every time Rachel speaks she throws more fuel on the fire.

Rachel Zegler is not rich, if you think she is you're very innocent, she has been in 3 movies and has 2 in the can, it's common for studios to use new rising actors like her and pay them very little.

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I think it’s more the tone in which she said it. As if standing in a dress and playing Snow White is the worst thing anyone has ever had to endure to get paid.
I absolutely support the actors and writers striking, but Rachel is coming off increasingly unlikeable and it has nothing to do with this just cause.

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
Zegler is worth $3 million, not bad for a 22 year old who was in 2 flops....and all indications point to this film making it 3 for 3 flops.
