I'm glad the "Paperman" animation is finally getting the full feature-film treatment, but a part of me does wonder if they're letting the bull out now because it's actually ready or if they just want to hype up this specific film.
Paperman still looks great to me. This might not be the most popular take here, but Wish to me looks like a straight to tv series, not a feature film from Disney.
I don’t really like the style of Paperman or Wish. I just wish they’d either go full hand-drawn or full GCI. When you mix the two you kind of disgrace both.
I also don’t think this has been posted:
In Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Wish,” Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star.
Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.

Paperman looked better than Wish, but I generally agree with your statement.
Those Magnifico and Asha artwork are gorgeous (of course we've already seen the Asha one more or less). The Magnifico one vaguely makes me think of the wall paintings of White Diamond from Steven Universe.
I agree that "Paperman" was a little prettier than Wish, but this is the first full film to use it, and it looks incredible considering, imo. Personally, I think it as well as solo hand-drawn animation both look far better than solo 3D does or ever could, tbh.

That may even have been deliberate, too, considering all the callbacks in this. For me, she's reaching out to Star in a way that reminds me of the lanterns, and the flowers look almost the same color as the ones on the windowsill of Rapunzel's tower.
Come to think of it, she's even in a purple dress like Rapunzel--but a much nicer shade and better design.

True, but Asha`s dress is way more purple than Rapunzel`s. Rapunzel`s dress was more lighter and almost looked like pink. Asha`s dress is way more darker purple.
Curiously, the Japanese poster also made me think of Tangled for some reason. Yeah, maybe it's the flowers or the purple dress. Asha also looks more CGI than usual here. It's a nice poster.
I do think this film will be a moderate hit at least, but more than that, I *hope* it is. I don't mind Olaf, but Star is so cute, it'd be nice to see a thousand toys of it everywhere.
