Bob Iger on Apple’s Developer Conference

In the Apple WWDC today when Apple released the Apple Vision Pro, an augmented reality computer, Bob Iger was featured in the conference saying that Disney would be using the Apple Vision Pro to tell their stories in a whole new way.

I honestly don't think think there's going to be a demand for that, but perhaps I'm wrong.

I think there’s going to be too much demand for it. This is the biggest day in a long time for Apple; Tim Cook even said this is the last product he wanted to see through. This is as big as the iPhone. Plus, with Disney partnering with Apple, people will be able to watch 3D movies with absolutely no tradeoff between quality and color and still have full depth. It can completely replace movie theaters!

There can be health concerns like there are with virtual reality headsets, but Apple Vision Pro doesn’t use the same techniques as normal virtual reality headsets. By allowing your eyes to actually be able to focus on virtual objects it wouldn’t give you headaches. However, the illusion of movement while your body is still could potentially give you motion sickness.

Another concern could be that since you’re watching through your eyes, but the video was filmed from a camera, it could throw off your eye’s depth and make you sick. It could make you see depth of field that’s not possible through your eyes, which could cause problems.

The world of 3D animation could also be completely changed. Disney has already been experimenting with animating with virtual reality headsets to make posing easier, but there was no actual software or UI involved. With Apple Vision Pro, people can animate with actual software and be able to do everything completely on the headset, not back and forth with a computer and a headset.

This will completely transform the world of computing and entertainment forever, just as AI and ML have. However, I am completely biased, so take that as you will.

To be honest, I don’t really understand what any of this means but I like the idea of watching 3D movies with only one piece of specialized equipment at home.
