It's been confirmed that the runtime is 1 hour and 42 minutes, which means that the short is approximately 8 minutes.
OK, that's a more typical runtime for an animated film. By the way, the new domestic poster is very similar to one of the leaked ones you posted here.

No Patrick, Elemental is not a rehashed Romeo and Juliet story.
I honestly think it’s really funny that you used your first post to make a SpongeBob joke about me.
But honestly the plot for Romeo and Juliet (at least the beginning) is a lot like Elemental with the whole “elements can’t mix” thing (similar to Romeo and Juliet being from different kingdoms). Although Wade’s family does seem fine with Ember having dinner with them, so I don’t think they’re so against fire people. But that’s just my observation/opinion.

Oh that wasn’t directed at you. I didn’t know how to make a post without replying.

Why does no one seem to care about this movie?
I mean, it kind of seems like Pixar ripped off Romeo and Juliet, like thousands of other animated and live-action movies. I agree with UmbrellaFish, it's kind of "been there, done that."
I got the Elemental cover on my Summer D23 Magazine. That’s the one I preferred as I didn’t want Haunted Mansion and I DEFINITELY didn’t want Little Mermaid.
It really hurts seeing people are so harsh towards not only the movie but to the director for making it personal to him. It sucks. I really hope Elemental can have an impact despite it’s current state right now on social media.
There is no hype for this movie at all from what I can gather, and I'm starting to think that Disney's "dumping it to Disney+ policy" won't be much of a factor if this underperforms. I also don't think that you can blame "wokeness" for this either, since the film doesn't seem particularly progressive.
It's a little sad, even if I'm not especially looking forward to it myself- the story is feeling pretty samey and I don't love the character designs- I do want original stories to do well. I don't love the idea of Pixar focusing exclusively on Toy Story sequels and spin-offs.

Well, one could argue that because of Strange World and Lightyear, audiences are less trusting of the Disney brand when it comes to family entertainment. Those films didn't reveal they had LGBT representation in their trailers or marketing at all and some members of the audience felt duped when they actually went to see them. There were even reports of people walking out of screenings. What assures them there isn't something similar in this film? It's tough to ascertain the percentage of the movie-going audience that feels this way and whether it's sizable enough to have an impact on the box office, but I don't think we can rule it out yet as a factor.
If this one flops, it mostly has to do with them going back to the safe buddy roadtrip formula well. They need to keep doing new things like Turning Red and Luca. Unfortunately, Elio, while I personally think it looks good unlike this (and it looks much better than Strange World did going in, tbh), worries me simply because its genre is sci-fi, and we already know that one generally does not turn out well for animated fare at the box office. You can count the number of successful animated sci-fi films on one hand.
IDK, maybe I should think it's for the best. If WDAS does well with Wish and Frozen III while Elemental and Elio both flop, then that may make it that more possible PIXAR animators simply get folded into WDAS. WDAS has the longer legacy and with Disney already having its attention divided with Marvel and Star Wars, they may see it as simpler if there's only one animation studio.
Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"
I'm not surprised it's not projected to do well in theaters. That's what I always suspected. Perhaps if the film is actually good and gets strong reviews, it could help make people more interested in it. I thought the fact it would premiere at Cannes was a sign Disney was confident in it and it was better than it seemed, but they also premiered the last Indiana Jones film at the festival and it hasn't gotten good reviews, so now I'm not that sure anymore. I hope it's good, though, and I'm rooting for its success.
