Really? Where did you find that info? According to the vocal cast Farerb posted on page 3, which was discovered thanks to a copyright filing, he'll be voiced by Mason Wertheimer, but maybe that vocal cast was wrong or the original actor was replaced.

Oh, OK. Then you must be right about the voice actor. You saw the trailer in advance? You're very lucky!D23ExpoVisitor25 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 3:38 pm In the cine.vote survey for when I saw what looks like the next trailer back in January.
Speaking of the trailer, a journalist from Slashfilm has just posted that they'll have new articles about the movie tomorrow, so I guess the trailer will be released tomorrow as well.

The trailer seems to imply that (spoilers?) Ember's mom is dead, which is why she wants to make her dad happy at sacrifice to her own wants.

Re: Pixar's Elemental
The new trailer was better than the teaser even though I'm still not interested in this. It just feels very derivative; not just the world, but the story as well. I feel I've watched this movie before.
Anyway, I think this will perform well at the box office. The new trailer is causing more interest and awareness. Elemental is trending on Twitter for the first time. I didn't trend with the teaser or the announcement.

Regardless, I honestly think this is going to be a bigger hit than anything we’ve seen from Pixar in the last 4 years. The new trailer was better than the teaser even though I'm still not interested in this. And Hooray!! Carl’s Date is going to be released with Elemental!

Four character posters have also been released instead of a regular new poster, which is a bit weird, especially since two of these characters are not even introduced in the trailer.

The rest of the voice cast has also been announced:
I liked the trailer. The metaphor for immigrants in big cities works better than I expected, as does the world building. Also, for some reason, I thought Ember and Wade won't even be able to touch since they're opposing elements, but it seems that won't be a problem and the issue will be just that their relationship is not socially accepted. I'm glad about that. I still don't expect this will be among Pixar best films, but I'm more excited for it now.

The rest of the voice cast has also been announced:
Source: https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/pixar- ... oice-cast/Joining the previously announced voice cast including Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie as Ember and Wade, respectively, are Ronnie del Carmen as Ember’s soon-to-be retired dad, Bernie; Shila Ommi as Ember’s love-seeking mom, Cinder; Wendi McLendon-Covey as Wade’s stormy and Air-Ball-loving boss, Gale; Catherine O’Hara as Wade’s welcoming mom, Brook; Mason Wertheimer as Ember’s admiring earth neighbor, Clod; and Joe Pera as an overgrown city bureaucrat, Fern.

Re: Pixar's Elemental
I don't think that's the case. Ember's mom is part of the voice cast and she also appears in the trailer. She's the one that sees Ember and Wade on the motorbike together. I think they focus on the relationship with her dad more because she's expected to inherit his father's business. Wade's dad, though, might be actually dead, since only his mother is listed in the cast.Warm Regards wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 7:48 amThe trailer seems to imply that (spoilers?) That's great! It was weird it finally wasn't released on Disney+ for Valentine's Day as it had been announced. I saw some people theorize back then they could have changed their minds and decided to pair it with Elemental. They were right!Woodrow Pride wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 9:02 am And Hooray!! Here's the short's synopsis:
Source: https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/pixar- ... oice-cast/With Elemental, Pixar Animation Studios will resume the magical moviegoing tradition of pairing their feature film with an animated short. The new short, Carl’s Date, catches up with Carl Fredricksen (voiced by Ed Asner) and his lovable talking dog, Dug (voiced by Bob Peterson), who were introduced in Pixar’s Oscar®-winning feature Up. Written and directed by Emmy® Award winner Peterson and produced by Kim Collins, Carl’s Date finds Carl reluctantly agreeing to go on a date with a lady friend—but admittedly with no idea how dating works these days. Ever the helpful friend, Dug steps in to calm Carl’s pre-date jitters and offer some tried-and-true tips for making friends—if you’re a dog.

Looks really promising! Mamoudou and Leah sound so great here, and the animation looks fantastic. I was worried how element-based characters would look in motion, but I can get behind this.

According to the press release:Four character posters have also been released instead of a regular new poster, which is a bit weird, especially since two of these characters are not even introduced in the trailer.
And here are the actual full-quality images of Elemental, since only bad-quality ones were posted:• Ember, a clever 20-something fire woman with a great sense of humor who loves her family but can be hot-headed at times.
• Wade, an observant, empathetic, 20-something water guy who is not afraid to show his emotions—in fact, his emotions are hard to miss.
• Clod, a young, street-smart earth kid with a gentle heart who lives in Firetown and tends to show up whenever Ember is around.
• Gale, an air element with a big personality, a lot of bluster and a fluffy pink complexion who is a serious superfan of an Air Ball team called the Windbreakers.

I'll be honest, the non-lead characters look like they belong in a preschool show.
But hey, Joe Pera will be in this? I love him and miss his show, so that's great news.

Just watched the trailer. I know I wasn't enthused with this one from the beginning, but there's something about it that looks sort of...cheap? I mean, I'm glad on one hand that they have an almost hand-drawn aspect to the fire characters' faces, but I don't know, it looks like it's from one of those "lesser" studios that make 3D in a way?

Thanks for posting. Well, at least they revealed some details about those two new characters in the press release. I bet Clod is secretly in love with Ember.Woodrow Pride wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 11:33 am According to the press release:

I agree about the look of the film. The fire people in particular don't look very good to me. I know they needed to make them more caricatured than usual for a 3D film, so they could have faces, expressions and so on, but the mix of 2D and 3D doesn't totally work for me. In my opinion, this film was more suited for 2D animation.Disney's Divinity wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 12:24 pm Just watched the trailer. I totally agree. I think the part that’s most unsettling with me are the facial parts, like Ember’s nose and eyebrows which are 2D things plastered on the screen, completely ignoring depth of field and chromatic aberration. Along with their clothes which are so physically there, but their bodies are so abstract and undefined which sort of makes the illusion that they are behind their clothes.D82 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 1:59 pmI agree about the look of the film. I’m a water sign myself, but I think the earth characters are adorable!
Re: Pixar's Elemental
I think the trailer looks very promising. Creative, funny.
As far as the character designs... you could say a lot Pixar characters look like they were designed for pre-schoolers (Monsters inc? Cars?)... but then they were given a makeover by an adult hand (and tech). Doesn't mean they don't work for everyone.
As far as the 2-D aspects, I love it. And the body shapes are somewhat abstract, which I think is great: for a long time, 3D animation was more like puppeteering, and the characters were real in their dimensionality. They are now getting to a point where they don't want/need to subscribe to that, and I am all for it.
I just hope this movie doesn't disappoint, like most of their films from the past 5 years

Re: Pixar's Elemental
Of course, I already thought this film was a step back for them thematically after they'd been growing away from the buddy roadtrip through bureacracy formula the studio has been glued to, but I also think the look of the film is inferior to Turning Red, Luca, and Elio now after seeing more of the characters in the trailer.
