The trailer has gotten approximately 137,000 down votes and 26,000 up votes. How long before Disney disconnects the vote option a la The Little Mermaid trailer?

Re: Peter Pan & Wendy (Live-Action)
That doesn't seem to be as wide a margin as what TLM's trailer received though... I think TLM's trailer did as bad as it did because it had casuals who hated it aside from the crowd who were simply reviewbombing. I imagine that's what Disney's nervous about with that film and why they didn't release a trailer at the Superbowl.
This film on the other hand was always just going to be Disney+ fodder. That's what I meant before about being surprised it didn't look worse because I had no interest in this at all to begin with, and now I think I might give it one watch. It's a streaming-only film, right? If TLM ends up underperforming their expectations (ie, ending up only at Maleficent level numbers or less rather than the billion streak of the other Fab Four), I'm guessing almost all future remakes will be relegated streaming exclusives other than Snow White.

Better look at the Lego set and illustrations of the characters from some new T-shirts:

Now it's up to 31K upvotes vs. 204K downvotes. The Little Mermaid teaser "Wish" is up to 45K upvotes vs. 377K downvotes. The first teaser is at 1.2M upvotes vs. 3.5M downvotes.carolinakid wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 11:30 amThe trailer has gotten approximately 137,000 down votes and 26,000 up votes.
I don't know who's responsible for those illustrations, but they're pretty bad. Wendy and Tink look especially off.

Re: Peter Pan & Wendy (Live-Action)
Well, after seeing the teaser, I was expecting to hate it. But to be fair, most of the trailer was actually appealing. The beginning with the coast looked generic, but the parts with NeverLand and London looked appealing and were imbused with some magic. The actress who`s playing Wendy looks like she stepped out of the Narnia franchise. While there`s nothing wrong by making Wendy swordfighting, it feels shoehorned in as a meta-comment for Wendy`s lack of feminism in the original. The same with having a Tinker Bell of color (no offense). The actor who`s playing Captain Hook looks like a miscast, despite how the original Captain Hook wasn`t as great as charismatic to begin with. But overall, it was a fine teaser. Perhaps this movie won`t be a total waste?

Re: Peter Pan & Wendy (Live-Action)
So 86% / 89% / 74% for the downvotes in each case.
Of course the downvotes for TLM's first trailer were disabled, weren't they? So I'd argue it would have more if Disney and YouTube hadn't put their thumbs on the scale.

I think Gal Gadot being in Snow White might actually soften the impact for that one to a degree so its downvotes aren't as extreme, but she's the only reason. @D23ExpoVisitor25: Yes, that's right, I imagine Mufasa and Aladdin 2 will still be in theaters; audiences liked Aladdin in particular (talking about reception on RottenTomatoes, not merely its billion-dollar box office intake), from what I recall. That's what happens when you do a remake right versus whatever they're doing these days.

At least Mufasa could be better than The Lion King (2019), thanks to Barry Jenkins and maybe enough time in pot-production to make the animals emote.Disney's Divinity wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 4:15 pmSo 86% / 89% / 74% for the downvotes in each case.

I think that's why they didn't release a Superbowl trailer, they probably think it's best the film rides solely on the brand name since the more audiences see of the remake itself, the bigger the negative reaction is inspired.

Something I have noticed on both the Peter Pan trailer and The Little Mermaid teaser is that the comments are disabled, unlike other trailers that Disney has released in the same channel. I saw someone that said that they only did it after the negative feedback, but I didn't notice if there were comments when the trailer was first uploaded.

Re: Peter Pan & Wendy (Live-Action)
I feel NOTHING toward those drawings while I LOVE the 1953 versions!
Re: Peter Pan & Wendy (Live-Action)
My thoughts exactly. For the other remakes, I felt something...I remember feeling so excited and happy when Disney revealed Cinderella's poster, with her beautiful ballgown. Same with Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King and even The Little Mermaid. But here, nothing, absolutely nothing.

First official look at Jim Gaffigan as Mr. Smee:

Source: https://twitter.com/JimGaffigan/status/ ... 6850426881
Here are also the previous stills in better resolution. If you zoom in on Hook you'll notice one of his eyes is different than the other. I guess they've given him a damaged eye in this version. He also has some scars on his face. And it's interesting he now has grey hair. It wasn't like that in the set photos, where he was wearing a blue coat instead of the red one he has here, which makes me believe there may be flashbacks in the movie where he looks younger. In an interview from D23 I watched but I think finally didn't post here, Jude Law said Hook's past will be explored in the movie and he implied that he and Peter Pan start off as friends in this version, so perhaps the set photos were from that part of the film.
Another noticeable change compared to the original designs is that Tinker Bell's skirt is longer now. I guess that like in Aladdin and The Little Mermaid they don't want the live-action versions of the characters to show too much skin.
Regarding the drawings from those T-shirts, I actually had a very different reaction than you, guys. I thought they were quite good for this kind of illustrations and was impressed the characters looked so much like the real actors. Although, some more than others. Hook and Tiger Lily don't resemble them as much as the rest, in my opinion.

Re: Peter Pan & Wendy (Live-Action)
Personally, I think my level of excitement for this is the same as those early remakes back when they were mostly nothing like the original films--low, but vaguely curious. I remember initially being excited for Cinderella since Cate Blanchett was involved, but a lot of my interest dissipated when the first images of the outfits were released. When you're already underwhelmed from the pictures and you already know how much of the story they've altered, there's no reason to have any hope they'll be good. Every time they try to get you curious by changing everything, and they're the worst (even grading on a "remake" curve) every single time.

Re: Peter Pan & Wendy (Live-Action)
Sorry to be late to the party!
I finally watched the trailer for this movie... and boy, am I underwhelmed! I don't think I'll watch it. I actually first thought it was a TV show... from the visual quality. Like a slightly higher budget episode of Once Upon A Time hahaha.
Some thoughts:
- anyone else think the actor playing Peter Pan is too old?? His voice has already changed... he feels more like a teenager than a kid... which is the main point of the story.
- Weirdly enough, I am NOT bothered by Tinkerbell's race bend nor the inclusion of girls among the Lost Boys... although... will they still want Wendy to be their "mom"? Why not ask any of the other girls?? I guess cause they don't "tell stories", like Wendy does. Still, dilutes the point a bit.
- Neverland looks so... charmless (where's the COLORS???). And HUGE! Part of the charm of previous depictions of Neverland is that it was almost comically small. Like the kids can get around the island very quickly on foot. This one looks like it'll take 8 hours to get from place to place. I think this is one thing where Spielberg's Hook benefitted from being shot in a studio... it kept the "playground" quality to Neverland. Even the Hollow Tree looks like an abandoned temple in this one...
- Why does Tinkerbell look like they put a live action face on a CGI HEAD (and body)... reminds me a little of the Genie effect in the live action Aladdin.
- Hook himself... isn't this supposed to be a refined, elegant, childishly pompous adult? This version looks raggedy. The hair looks terrible.
For those of you who are looking forward to this... lucky you! Haha.
