No prob! Just doing my job! :D And aww, blackcauldron85. You're so sweet! Most of it is just normal medicine, but I need to confess that my anemia has been bad all summer. So, I am finishing medicine on that. And I 500% agree, Sotiris. I thought the giant was an adult first before Disney announced it. What BleedingCool (or whatever it was) leaked sounded amazing.

Unfortunately, there was no information on the story or why it was cancelled. It was just, "Yeah, I got hired to do this and it got shelved." It's really a shame. But like what Ed Catmull said when the cancellation was announced, "The story was too much" or whatever

There is a ton of concept art for Fraidy Cat and other movies. It'd take too long to do them all, esepecially with my anemia. I don't have the time to read the book at its entirety right now due to my new job and orientation this week. But, from what I could read in a short time, Fraidy Cat was first cancelled because the director's wife died of cancer.

I like this one as well. It's very atmospheric and serene.

Yes, even though it wasn't perfect that iteration of the story was a step in the right direction. Too bad they radically changed it. Perhaps if they stayed the course on that one, the movie would have happened.

I'm pretty sure that wasn't Fraidy Cat but King of the Elves and the director in question was Aaron Blaise.

<3 You've provided a great glimpse- I don't expect you to send us all the pics! My copy's in the mail, so I can help share the wealth if I see an extra-cool something. I'm always nervous when I post info/pics from Disney books...too much and Disney might get mad and I couldn't be happy with that!

Sotiris, yes, that one has great lighting/shading and colors!!!

Agreed. It was a great picture, truly hinting of how great this film could´ve looked.

Agreed. Looking at these pictures makes me even more sullen over the cancelation.

I believe so. In color scripts the characters are painted very broadly, so it's not surprising he's a blob of color here.

I think the earlier version called Giants that had The Angelina ,Jack and Marco love triangle, The Brothers Feebus, Fifen, Fogel and Fobert , the class struggle and the humans making pact with the Storm Giants , sounds better then the later version called Gigantic that had Jack befriend Inma and fight the storm giants and fight Storm Giants.

The later version sounds more generic an less interesting.

And i didn't really care for the Lopez's songI lobe my little man.

I wish the kept earlier plot.

But all this is a mute point anyway since this movie is now cancelled  :(

Visual development by Dan Cooper. This is from a different iteration of the story than the one with the child giantess.

I like the picture of the cottage. Otherwise, eh... I never thought "Jack and the Beanstalk" was a good story for a full film.

Thanks for posting, Sotiris. Interesting how those humans looks non-White. But they almost look like they`ve stepped out from the Marvel Universe :P

I wish they’d just go ahead and make Jack and the Beanstalk. One way or another these unadapted fairytales will continue to linger in the halls of the studio anyway.

Rapunzel, The Snow Queen and The Frog Prince got made. Albeit through modern takes.

JatB as well as Rumpilstitskin will resurface either way because it’s the fairytales that drive the studio. Hard to believe they need this as a reminder like every two decades or so.

I wouldn't count on it. It seems they have moved away from fairytale adaptations. They've replaced them with fairytale-adjacent movies like Raya, Encanto, and Wish.

The Lopezes revealed on the D23 Inside Disney podcast they have reused two of the songs they wrote for Gigantic in other projects:
When asked about working on the now-canceled animated Disney musical, Gigantic, and whether they're able to use past songs on new projects, Robert Lopez confirmed that "We actually did" and one Gigantic song made its way into "this show called WandaVision:"

“That’s a really interesting question. We actually did… Luckily enough, the songs went back to us after 'Gigantic.' We cleared it with all the legal-ness of it and we realized we were allowed to use them. We haven’t used many of them, but we did use two of them. One, we used in this show called 'WandaVision.'"

Lopez went on to share that the Gigantic tune became WandaVision's Episode 3 theme song, "We Got Something Cooking:"

"A little ditty that we wrote for 'Gigantic' and we just took the tune, and the chords, and it became ['We Got Something Cooking.'] … That’s from 'Gigantic.' And also, there’s a song called ‘These Are Your Rights’ and it’s from a Netflix special the Obama’s produced–”

I don't support this practice. You never know if a previously shelved project gets revived or if songs from that project get released some other way like on a singer's personal album. Disney won't be able to ever release at least one of the songs since it now belongs to Netflix. Besides, a talented songwriter doesn't need to resort to that. They can come up with new material for new projects. Isn't it more authentic to write something specific for the project at hand than repurpose something you previously wrote? Anyway, I'm glad Menken doesn't do that.

In musical theatre, the practice of songwriters saving cut songs and repurposing them into other shows is common enough that there is a name for it: “the trunk song.” As a fan I can’t say I have an issue with hearing cut material in any form or fashion. I’m more shocked that Disney’s contract with the Lopezes allows them to use their trunk songs! I would assume Disney would be as grubby with any IP produced at their studios as possible. Could it have something to do with Gigantic being made a tax write off?
