Thanks  I think it is like Supah Genius at 500 and then Collector's Edition at 550, unless Luke changed it, and it's just Collector's at 500.

Also I am trying out some new avatars, since you were curious why I diodn't have one

Sleeping Beauty, imo, the best looking Disney movie of all time, with a great story. But as everybody else has said, terrible cover!, all though its not that bad compared to The Lion King.
After many short films, she's finally getting her own....

After finding that there's something there, he found something more....

I haven't lost all hope that it won't be that cover. It seems that half the websites display the new art, and half display the originally planned art. Besides, the preview on the Piglet's Big Movie DVD (Thanks a lot, MMB) show the originally planned artwork, which isn't so bad. I'd really just like an official confirmation on what it's going to be!

It IS final artwork - all of Disney's promotional materials feature it.

Well, this advetisement shows the old cover art:
Image

While this advertisement shows the "new" cover: Image

Perhaps they are trying to mislead us, so it will be a surpirse when it is released? Who knows, mybe they will surprise us with a totally different cover!! (Well probably not) or maybe they will just wind up releasing 2 different covers...Image

Not likely. All their mock retail ads show the new cover art. That preview was probably one of the last places to feature the old artwork. I really wonder why they'd do a change like this after releasing the first artwork. They must be booking on the "adventure" element of the cover bringing in additional sales.

     I'm sorrry, but what is that!?! It is not nearly enough! I WANT MORE!!! Hopefully, there will actually be more than just that, or perhaps, I will have to wait until the Platinum rerelease to be satisfied. It will mean having to buy this twice, but if it is worth it, then I don't care, but come on!!! Surely they can do better than that!!!!^^^^^^ I hope we don't have to wait long for the Sleeping Beauty rerelease, they should just, IMO, rerelease the titles that already exist as different versions. In other words, Peter Pan and Pinocchio Platinums should be released, but not counted as the March or October Platinums, which should only consist of the original 10. Therefore the "platinum" Sleeping Beauty could be rereleased next year sometime, w/o having to go on moratorium for 5-7 years...

Relax Phillip - there are loads on supplements there. The press release doesn't mention in detail the stunning galleries that I personally guarantee will entrance you for hours. The Backgrounds alone are simply stunning.

Literally nothing on the 2 disc international releases (bar the "Make Your Own Enchanted Castle" Art Attack project) is fluff. The 2 disc set is bursting at the seams with interesting content - even if some of it (the The Peter Tchaikovsky Story, Four Artists Paint One Tree and Grand Canyon features have only minor links to the film itself). And let's face it, it will be fun to duplicate the original cinema experience at home by screening Grand Canyon first won't it? :)

But I'd rather watch these features rather than some of the fluff that appeared in Chip's section of the Beauty and the Beast disc, or the "Intergalactic Space Adventures" - or whatever it is - section, on the Treasure Planet disc.

Plus the US release is superior in that it includes the trailers missing from the International releases (and a "new" music video too, if that rocks your boat)

The only worry is Disney are cramming a full screen version of the film into the set as well as the widescreen version.

You have nothing to worry about Phillip regarding the supplements and you will not be disappointed.

Image I hope you're right... it's just when I see specs listed for the Platinum releases they are so much longer than the ones for Sleeping Beauty, but I guess that doesn't neccessarily make them better... Well regardless I can't wait to own this!!!! Only 1 and 1/2 more months!!!! Well, I guess that's all that I have to say on the matter for now...

Oh and to answer your question: NO, the stupid music video does not impress me!Image

Hush Phillip. If we're very patient and very quiet, perhaps Loomis will tell us what he thinks about his UK Sleeping Beauty set next time he logs on. :)

The elusive Loomis pops his head up, glances around to make sure the quiet means that it is safe. He tentatively makes his way to the keyboard and types his thoughts. Remember, when provoked, the Loomis can bite and call you names.

The Sleeping Beauty set does rock. It is a beautiful looking film, and is done justice by the DVD. The US has nothing to worry about.

2099 is right - although some features have loose links to the actual film, they are far more substantial than some of the fluff features on other Disney flicks. I always think stuff like 'Grand Canyon' etc are fun as they do provide the cinematic feel of the original.

Hope my comments were worth the wait, PP...

So, what is Grand Canyon short about?

Was it the original short shown before the movie in cinemas?

On a side note, I hope a future SE of Honey I Shrunk the Kids includes the original RR cartoon...

It's not a cartoon short. It's sort of like a Walt Disney's True-Life adventure. Basically it's a "documentary" - personally I think most was staged - filmed in the Grand Canyon and set to music. I think it's main claim to fame is that it was shot in Cinemascope (obviously to match Sleeping Beauty). One of the few live action Disney productions to be filmed this way.

Yes it was shown before Sleeping Beauty.

It won an Oscar for "Best Short Subject, Live Action Subjects" in the 1959 Oscars.
