You're welcome! :)
If you want to find reviews of any DVD title from any region, I recommend you searching for it over DVD Basen. They are the best in tracking down (most) DVD reviews.[/list]

By the way, Animated-News has posted a few storyboards from the "Proud of Your Boy" sequence:

Just as I expected, Colin's review was excellent. It's slightly disappointing to hear that Aladdin suffers from edge enhancement. What worries me a bit is the fact that he gave Aladdin a lower picture grade than Beauty and the Beast, and we all know how much the latter was plagued by digital artifacts and compression. Still, I know the film will look generally good, edge enhancement or not, especially from the screencaps we've seen.

I wonder, has Disney abandoned their virtual galleries? At first I figured The Lion King didn't have one because Disney wanted to do some sort of consistant theme involving castles (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast), but then you'd think they'd use the Sultan's palace to host virtual galleries for Aladdin, which they didn't. If they have abandoned them, I'm very disappointed because they made browsing through galleries so much more interesting. Hopefully Disney will revive this for Cinderella.

And because I've also seen this kind of editions without the box cover (Alice in Wonderland, The Lion King...). Even the Disney Movie Club sent me one without that cover.

But if you're right: THANKS LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS

Also, do you know why does it look like the upcoming Aladdin sequels are going to be lacking any extras (or good ones) unlike The Lion King's or Beauty and the Beast's?

I know The Return of Jafar is a bad movie, but altough not a real direct to video sequel it was the first sequel Disney made (ehem, thinking about it... :? ) Also with Aladdin and the King of Thieves Disney made it first trilogy. So just because of that, and because they brought Robin Williams back they should make decent editions (at least for this AatKoT; or just to follow up the other Disney Dvd sequels tradition in editions.
The Lion King Gift Set had the exact same Platinum Edition DVD inside, with the slipcover.

We don't know that the Aladdin sequels won't have extras. They haven't officially been announced, but they're supposed to be "Special Editions." The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast's sequels all got this treatment, and the former had some strong extras, but neither was really overflowing. We'll still have to see what's coming with Return of Jafar and King of Thieves.

And just to let those who are interested know, it doesn't look like I'll be reviewing the Gift Set as I had hoped. So don't get your hopes up for photos of the box set contents. But I should still be getting the DVD by this weekend. I'll try and make it extra good to make up for everyone else reviewing this first. :)

You're right. I said that because in dvdempire they're going to sell it as a pack and I tought that meant that both movies were going to be single disc editions. I really do hope not.

On the other side, I saw that on the specifications it says standard (for the video); why can't they make it widescreen? I saw that done before with the IT series.

Both movies WILL be single disc releases. Which Lion King II and Lion King 1½ could have been, if any bonus feature or audio track had been lost. You can fit a lot on a single disc and maintain a quality presentation of the film.

At the same time, you can put not so much on a single disc and still have a crappy film. (See Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Magical World.)

I don't have the same talent for writing in-depth, lengthy DVD reviews that Luke does so I try to make my reports on DVDs at Animated News a little bit different than what gets posted here. Usually I post my quick overall impressions of a DVD and its contents and bonus features and put up a few screen grabs but this Aladdin DVD has so much stuff on it that I may just be busy making a ton of screen grabs and may have seven or eight such entries from now until Aladdin's street date. Joe Carioca has already posted the address to my first such entry.

I know that this might be a stupid question, and I'm sure all of you probably know it, but I heard the word "edge enhacement" a lot. Some reviews mentioned that Aladdin has "edge enhacement", what is that??? What kind of DVD problem is that.???

While we wait for Deathie to come in with his 700 page essay that would most likely go over your head, here's a nice page that explains edge enhancement clearly and is full of examples: http://www.videophile.info/Guide_EE/Page_01.htm

Thanks DisneyKid that really helped.... I thought edge enhacement meant something wrong with the edges of the movie and I could never find any. Antways, dont mind me and thanks a lot.

The one on Amazon is what it will look like in real life. The other one was basically just a concept picture of what they had in mind for the giftset.

Ummm..because it's pretty obvious. When you see something released by Disney very early on and then months later the final version is different, it's because the first version was a concept Disney used to get their ideas out. If you're so skeptical on my answer, why'd you ask? :P

If anyone's intersted, Home Theater Forum have their review for Aladdin too, and it's a pretty complete one as far as technical aspects go: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htforum ... genumber=1

Very positive review, specially considering the reviewer is pretty demanding. Now I have higher hopes for video and audio quality (not that I haven't always had, hehe).
