Society of Explorers and Adventurers (Movie)

Post by NeoSuperBlissey »

A live-action theatrical motion picture based on the "Society of Explorers and Adventurers" concept is now in development by Ryan Reynolds' Maximum Effort and "Strange World" writer-director Qui Nguyen.

It will be produced independently of the Ronald D. Moore Disney+ series project.

Is it wrong to sort of assume that adapting SEA from the parks is intended to make a Cinematic Universe out of the theme park rides? At least that's how it sounds. I'm not really sure how this plays out. Specifically concerning the films we already have like Pirates, Jungle Cruise, and the upcoming Haunted Mansion film. This film is supposed to take place essentially where all of the non-IP's in the park exist together... unless is does include the IP's. Does this movie then turn into a "Free Guy" sort o film, but in the Magic Kingdom?

When I read the headline elsewhere that this was in development, I was confused and didn't post it because I thought was already announced...so there is a TV show and a film. Is the film coming first and then the show will elaborate on it?

As I specified in my original post on the TV series project (which was moved to its current status as a separate thread on this movie concept), the Maximum Effort/Ryan Reynolds film project is separate from the Ronald D. Moore "Magic Kingdom Universe" Disney+ series project.

Interesting that Disney's having the two similar projects being produced around the same time but they're unrelated. Thanks for clarifying, NeoSuperBlissey.
