Isn't that the case for everyone given the slim pickings of the Disney+ Day releases? :P

Agreed. Figaro and Jiminy look off too, though not as much as Monstro. Surprisingly, Cleo looks decent despite the cartoony design. Pinocchio looks good in profile, but in other angles he looks off too. If they wanted to keep his design from the original, they should have done a better job translating it to CG.

1. Well, there's She-Hulk Episode 4, Cars on the Road, and the Obi-Wan Kenobi series documentary. But, both could get overshadowed by a movie that could trend on Disney+ for two weeks and weekends before Star Wars: Andor takes over Disney+ when it has its 3-part premiere 13 days after Disney+ Day.

2. To be fair, while I agree on Figaro, at least Jiminy looks as close to the original design as they could possibly get.

This article includes some official stills: https://bleedingcool.com/movies/pinocch ... -released/

And here are some HD screencaps from the trailer: https://mobile.twitter.com/mmdisney200/ ... 5339140097

I think the trailer wasn't bad and since the movie is directed by Robert Zemeckis it might turn out to be among the decent live-action Disney remakes, but all I could think watching the trailer is how Walt himself would feel about this film. Thankfully, he's not alive to see it.

I think the problem is also that the original design doesn't work as well in "live-action".

The whale is less scary. I am both relieved and disappointed. The trailer looked good to me. I love the way the Blue Fairy brings Pinoke to life.

In that shot where he's jumping out of the sea, it looks like he had spikes

To be honest, he's seen in two shots in the trailer, maybe he'll look better in the final movie. One can only hope

I noticed that too. Do real whales have that or are they making it look more like a monster?

As far as I know, no. I suppose they wanted to make him look more menacing, like you said. But it just looks weird. Again, I'm holding off any further comments until I see the final thing.

Yeah, I agree it looks a bit weird. Althought, like you said the other day, we only got a glimpse at Monstro in the trailer, maybe it'll look better in the film.

Slightly OT, but if anyone can please tell me the music used in the 2002 Pinocchio teaser trailer as heard in the following, it would be truly gratefully appreciated :-)

I loved the new trailer for this! This looks about as good as the remakes can get to me. The characters look great and Erivo sounded gorgeous. About Monstro--he sort of reminded me of Sin from Final Fantasy X for anyone who's played that game.

I find it hilariously ironic yet sad when Tom Hanks says Pinocchio is an example of audiences being transported in the way of the magic of cinema yet this film was going to be a theatrical release but now is no longer a theatrical release.

To be honest, beside the Blue Fairy, I like everything about this movie. Robert Zemeckis has done movies that were visually stunning, and by the looks of this trailer, Pinocchio will be the same way. I'm holding judgement about Monstro until I see more shots of him in the movie. I'm really excited to see it.

Well, after seeing the trailer, I`m with the majority of you guys: The trailer is overall a mixed bag. I liked the visuals and the atmosphere, but the cartoony slapstick doesn`t truly mesh with the tone of the trailer. As with the rest of you, I find Pinocchio to be uncanny-looking. I didn`t mind that they used his actual design, but I wanted him to look better and more fuller. Jiminy`s design is fine, though, but Cleo and Monstro looks off. What I truly disliked, is the seagull and Honest John and Gideon, as they meshed with the tone of the trailer.

• Someone made a shot-for-shot comparison between the original and the trailer for the remake. There were more similar shots than I had noticed:

• The full list of songs featured in the film, as well as their respective performers, has been revealed. Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard have written four original songs: two performed by Geppetto, one by the Coachman and one by a new character called Fabiana. It has also been confirmed only three songs from the original will be included: "When You Wish Upon a Star", "Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee" and "I've Got No Strings", so "Little Wooden Head" and "Give A Little Whistle" have indeed been cut. That means Geppetto will have two new songs instead of the one he had in the original and Jiminy Cricket apparently won't sing at all, since one of his original songs has been excluded from the remake and the other is now performed by the Blue Fairy.

Here are the titles of the seven songs:

NEW SONGS

"When He Was Here With Me"(performed by Tom Hanks as Geppetto)
"Pinocchio Pinocchio" (performed by Tom Hanks as Geppetto)
"I Will Always Dance" (performed by Kyanne Lamaya as Fabiana)
"The Coachman to Pleasure Island" (performed by Luke Evans as The Coachman)

NEW VERSIONS OF SONGS FROM THE ORIGINAL

"When You Wish Upon a Star" (performed by Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy)
"Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee (An Actor's Life For Me)" (performed by Keegan-Michael Key as Honest John)
"I've Got No Strings" (performed by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Pinocchio)

Personally, I'm especially disappointed they didn't include "Give a Little Whistle" (which, as I once said, is my favorite song from the film after "When You Wish Upon a Star") mainly because they didn't thought it was iconic enough to keep. But I guess they needed to cut some songs to make room for the new ones they wanted to have. Anyway, they can't cut any songs from the original, and that's all that matters.

Apparently, the review embargo for the film lifts the same day it's released on Disney+, while the social media one (first reactions) the day before. That's not very encouraging. I don't think I've ever seen a review embargo lift on the opening day of a movie. The closest I had seen was the day before, which I think happened with The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, for example, and that film got terrible reviews.

Robert Zemeckis' last film (The Witches) was also a remake of a popular family film and got bad reviews, so I can see it happening again (personally, I don't think that movie was that bad, but the original is much superior, in my opinion). However, Pinocchio is released on Disney+ Day and the whole purpose of that event is to get new subscribers, so maybe the movie is not that bad, but they don't want to risk getting potential lukewarm reviews for the main bait for subscribers they have this time.

There’s no way this is getting good reviews. The original is still considered by many Disney’s finest animated feature. Especially by critics.

Some things are best left untouched.
