Live-Action SURVIVOR Round 2.5

Post by AwallaceUNC »

So far, we've voted off...
Round 2.1 - Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, Flubber, Heavyweights
Round 2.2 - Homeward Bound 2: Lost In San Francisco, The Big Green, My Favorite Martian
Round 2.3 - Max Keeble's Big Move, Rocketman, The Country Bears
Round 2.4 - Mr. Magoo, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, Snow Dogs
Round 1 - Winner: Pollyanna

We've completed the first of three rounds in Live-Action Survivor! Now, we set out to pick the movie that will square off one-on-one against Pollyanna for the ultimate championship in Round 3.

Round 1 dealt with movies made prior to 1990 (I had to make the slight change from the site's grouping, which breaks at 1980, to slightly even out the two groupings). Round 2 will concern movies made from 1990 to the present day.

Live-action films have already been defined for us by Luke's pages for them here on the site. The complete list of films made between 1990 and today can be found at the bottom here (this list also includes movies made between 1980-1990).

It works just like the Survivor TV show. Basically, come on here once every 2 days and vote for the live-action Disney film that you want to vote off, i.e., the one that you like the least. Everyone is welcome!!

At the end of the sub-round, I'll come on here and announce which films got voted off, and a new thread will start for the next sub-round. This gets to be a lot of fun, especially when it gets down to the wire!

You can talk about your reasons for your vote, but I ask that you put the full title of what you're voting for in bold letters so that it's easy for me to count them all in a hurry.

As always, I ask that you let me make the final announcement of each sub-round's winner, so as to avoid confusion/ambiguity. I occasionally come in a little late, but for the most part, I'm usually able to come in and make the announcement shortly after the round ends.

There are even more films in Round 2 than there were in Round 1 (six more, in fact)! Round 2 will be structured slightly differently. Three movies will be cast off in each of the first 5 sub-rounds (the three with the most votes to leave). After that, two films will leave in each sub-round, until we reach the top 10. Make sense?

So, Survivors ready?? Come on in and vote off ONLY ONE of these 46 movies:

The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement
Miracle
The Haunted Mansion
Freaky Friday (2003)
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Holes
The Santa Clause 2
Tuck Everlasting
The Rookie
The Princess Diaries
102 Dalmatians
Remember The Titans
Disney’s The Kid
Inspector Gadget
Mighty Joe Young
I’ll Be Home For Christmas
Air Bud: Golden Receiver
The Parent Trap (1998)
Air Bud
George of the Jungle
Jungle 2 Jungle
That Darn Cat
101 Dalmatians (1996)
D3: The Mighty Ducks
First Kid
Muppet Treasure Island
Tom and Huck
Tall Tale
Man Of The House
Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book
The Santa Clause
Angels In The Outfield
D2: The Mighty Ducks
Blank Check
Iron Will
The Three Musketeers (1993)
Cool Runnings
Hocus Pocus
The Adventures Of Huck Finn
The Mighty Ducks
The Muppet Christmas Carol
Honey, I Blew Up The Kid
Newsies
The Rocketeer
White Fang
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?*

Voting ends at midnight (EASTERN TIME) on Sunday, September 19th.

*A note on Roger Rabbit: There's likely to be a divided opinion over whether this should be included. Not only was it originally released under Touchstone Pictures, but it also comes from the late 1980s. However, it has since been embraced by Disney and Disney fans as a Disney film. The only other movie to share this status is The Nightmare Before Christmas, which was also included in our Other Animation game. Also, the Touchstone/Hollywood Survivor game currently going on is currently not including these films, and there have also been many, many requests to include it in this game. Therefore, I've decided to. If you are one who disagrees, I understand where you are coming from, but I've decided to include it. Thanks for understanding. :)

Well I was glad to see Snow Dogs and Mr. Magoo go, but Lizzie McGuire should've stayed around a while longer. Now it's definitely time for White Fang to go- terrible movie, terrible book. Does no one else agree?

Because I agree with Himself's assessments of several movies and it is time to start moving some sequels out of here, especially sequels to sequels

D3:The Mighty Ducks can be excused from the competion.

As for White Fang, never seen it, never read it.

Well, well, well, our first tie of Round 2! First Kid and D3: The Mighty Ducks are both gone. The occupant of spot #3 remains undecided, though.

Please vote against one of these two films:

Air Bud
Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Voting for the tie-breaker ends Tuesday, September 21st (or as some would call it, Star Wars Day).

I posted the tie on time last night, but then forgot to put Tie-Breaker in the thread title, sorry about that...

It probably doesn't deserve to go quite yet, but I actually like its sequel better than it, and sports movies aren't usually my thing, and it doesn't even compare to Roger Rabbit on any level, so Air Bud gets my vote.
